001 , when in rome

THE DAYS OF HAVING A CLOSE KNIT FRIEND GROUP HAD FINALLY COME TO A CLOSE. Evelyn didn't realize she'd miss a lot of people back in London before it was too late to reconsider about staying in touch. She didn't want to make it any harder for her ex-boyfriend, they were both in the same friend group and if ever Evelyn does reach out to one friend, she'd no doubt let the news of that land on her ex's lap. Besides, she needed this too. This was a new life for her mom and sister, she didn't want them ( especially her mom ) to be tied down on the life they had before they arrived in Forks, except for Eli, her father. It was a complicated case and conclusion, but Eli Silva had agreed to allowing his children to live with their mom, under the agreement that they call him every now and then.

Sometimes, it would just be random and the next, fully scheduled. Evelyn had one and she made sure not to put a lot of pressure on Luna's shoulders to call their dad, she knows how bad this strained on her mind and capabilities of loving him again. There was an unspoken argument between them, Luna wondered why her older sister managed to call their father and act like he didn't do some huge mistake to their mom, to their family.

Because it wasn't just a mistress he became a fling with, the mistress had a name, Olivia Grace, who then has two sons. Luna was confident the youngest of her children was Eli's son. The resemblance was uncanny and the youngest boy had a fading red hair, he's two, now. It only meant the affair was happening for two years behind their backs and Luna resents him for it. But Evelyn didn't seem to, Luna would often overhear her conversations with their father and she would sometimes laugh, act like everything was perfectly fine when it's not. Even if it is an act, she applauds her sister for it. If it's not, she doesn't quite know what to feel.

"Evelyn, honey." Emery knocks gently on the door before opening it, seeing her daughter's bedroom a bit more organized than how they arrived three days ago. There were still unopened boxes here and now and her walk-in closet was wide open, clothes draped on the carpeted floors that seems to be in the middle of being organized by its hangars.

"Yes, mom?" Evelyn's head popped out the closet, placing a hand on the wall and walks out. "Something you need?"

"Honey, it's been three days, you've barely begun unpacking." Emery observes, looking around the room more once she got inside, seeing the windows opened and curtains barely hung properly. "If you need help, you could have asked me, I'm always here for you."

"I don't need help." Evelyn laughs, crossing her arms and masked a distinct offended expression. "If you must know, I was busy helping Luna, she didn't seem to want to do it anymore than I do. That was yesterday, I'm already working on my room now."

Emery always says that Evelyn's a good sister and a good daughter. They were at heads with each other, Evelyn was just generally a good person to argue with. Sometimes, she was too good for the world and Emery herself knows it deeply, for her daughter deserves more than what she can ever offer.

"I hate to pull you out of it but I need you to enroll your sister and you to school." Emery says, the heartbreak in her voice made Evelyn believe that she got her perception and sensitivity from her mother most of all that makes her smile a little. "I know you're busy but-"

"-But nothing, mother, I'll take care of it." Evelyn intervenes with a gentle voice.

"Are you sure?" Emery asks with her eyebrows raised. "There was a problem with yours and your sister's medical records I faxed in the hospital, I want to make sure everything is settled before I get to work."
