rose garden dreams

dreaming amongst the rouge-stained roses,
a haze of sunlight, heavenly touch so divine,
books of silver pages and threaded gold,
lay both scattered and engraved deep in your mind;

memories of moments on storm-cloud days,
raindrops and teardrops, so similar how they fall,
insults hurled as fast as the downpour outside,
but, of course, their purpose is not so kindred at all;

strawberry tea served upon balconies of marble,
soft-hued journals, look how fast they're filling,
stories from the universe you've carefully carved,
from your ruby pen, look how quickly they're spilling;

stone-cold silence lingers in occupied rooms,
glances of love have morphed into glares of hate,
one single home housing two separate lives,
honeymoon has faded into the monotony of late;

turquoise waters of the mediterranean sea,
warm waves glimmering as you glide through,
seafoam pearls against an aquamarine sky,
coral reefs below offering a multi-colored view;

words slipping and sliding upon thin ice,
lines blurring from vows once spoken so steady,
binding mistakes made with wild abandon,
a love now lost from a love never ready;

peach gown of silk and ivory gloves of lace,
fizzy drinks sparkling like your jewels so bright,
fireworks flashing amongst the long-gone stars,
amidst the endless backdrop of a sable night;

honesty aired out in the form of bitter truths,
beautiful passion dwindled to an apathetic calm,
resignation intertwined into stilted exchanges,
utter relief for the end has become a strange balm;

seraphic smiles have given way to a sickening sorrow;
a happily ever after tale was only on time borrowed;

when a love story ends, soft dreams mix with hard reality
