12 years later

"are you ok?" I hear my best friend Lia say over the sound of me punching my punching bag.

"yeah why wouldn't I be?" I say nonchalantly continuing to punch the bag in front of me harder.

"um maybe because today is your mom's death anniversary and we still have no lead on where your sister is" she says and I punch the bag harder

"Anastasia stop it!" She yells and and i stop taking a huge breath in and out. "Lia I'm fine you're making a big deal out of nothing." I say and Lia sighs. "you need to get ready for school, come on" I roll my eyes and un wrap my hands before running upstairs from the training room.

when I get to my room I go into my closet and pick out an outfit for me to wear I grab a black crop top and jean shorts I also grab a black and white flannel to put on top just incase it's windy. I take a quick shower and when I get out I put on my clothes. putting on my vanilla perfume over the lotion and body wash I use and get compliments on

since my clothes are on I sit at my dresser and straighten my hair. once I'm done I grab my bookbag and sneakers running down stairs

"Aloha kakahiaka makua" I say to my dad who's sitting in the kitchen talking to one of his men

[translation - good morning dad]

"kakahiaka aloha" he responds before sending the man he was talking to away.

[morning dear]

"ready for your first day of school?" he asks and I sigh "I don't understand why I even have to go, why can't someone just homeschool me like mom used to" I say "Anastasia your mom only homeschooled you because it wasn't safe to go outside" he says "and it's safe for me to go outside now?" I say "Anastasia we've been over this a million times we moved to California from Greece for your safety, you are safe here. " he says and I just roll my eyes hearing a horn being honked from outside most likely being Lia and I sigh "bye pappa I'll see you after school, love you" I say "I love you more kaikamahine" he responds and I slip on my panda dunks before running to the car.

when I get inside the car Lia turns her music back up and starts singing and I just stare at her like she's crazy. "you know it's going to rain right, why'd you straighten your hair" she asks me and I just huff because I didn't know that. around 20 minutes later we get to our school and I already want to shoot myself

I have never been to school but what my cousins have told me about their school makes me not want to go. Like why is it all sunshine and rainbows on tv but shit in real life? me and Lia make a plan to see each other during lunch and study hall

I go to my first period class and sit in a seat 2nd to last row in the back corner of the room and the teacher starts her lesson. about 10 minutes later everyone in writing notes down when we get interrupted by three boys entering the room loudly all three boys are tall one with curly light brown hair and the other 2 dark they all have brown eyes but the one with light brown hair has a lighter brown color eyes "is there a reason your this late to my class?" Mrs. Clarke says annoyed "Dunno just felt like it" one of the boys say "well I just feel like giving you detention today, now go find somewhere to sit" she responds and the boys groan and scan the class room for a seat. one of the boys with the dark hair locks eyes with me before walking to the seat next to me and the other 2 sit behind me.
