Lilly's POV

I sit up out of bed quickly as I wake from another bad dream. This one was much easier than the last. Now that I'm awake I don't remember it at all. I rub my face trying to wake up. It seems early but I know I won't be able to go back to sleep. I get out of bed and put my robe on as I head downstairs and into the kitchen, quickly finding the coffee pot and carefully looking for the coffee. Once I get it started I look for ingredients to make breakfast. He made dinner for us last night so I thought I could make breakfast. It was easy enough or so I thought. Breakfast is not a one handed meal. I had decided on pancakes and bacon. I think I was making more of a mess when I heard footsteps coming into the kitchen.

"Good morning, someone is being adventurous this morning."
"I'm trying. You made such a wonderful dinner. I thought I could make breakfast. It's proving harder than I thought with one hand."

"Hmmhmm, here let me help you. It does smell good though."
"I already made coffee."
"You have found the way to my heart, coffee. Thank you, much needed in the morning." He says after he has prepared a cup and has taken the first sip.

"Not a morning person are we?"

"Not at all."
After he had taken several big gulps of his coffee and set it down on the counter. He came over and helped me with the pancakes.

"You have been doing a good job by yourself though, thank you."
He quickly made several perfect ones and added them to the ones I tried to do. We took everything over to the table and set down and started eating. We fell into an easy conversation and soon his phone began to ring.

"Hey what's up?"

"Sorry to bother you, but you need to come down here, man, They are trying to deliver the wrong supplies. They say it's what you ordered."

"Damn, I will be down there as soon as I can."

He hangs up the phone and puts his empty plate in the kitchen and starts to head upstairs.

"That was one of my guys, Eric. There is a problem down at the build site. Will you be okay by yourself?"

"Yes, I will be fine."

"Call me if you need anything."
"How do I do that?"
"Crap, I will pick up a phone for you on my way home. I shouldn't be gone but a couple of hours."

"Alright, be careful. Don't kill anybody." I laugh as he heads upstairs to get dressed.

"I'll try not to."

He is quickly back down after he gets dressed, grabbing his keys as he heads out the door.

"Lock the door behind me, please."

"I will. See you later."
I walk over and lock the door and turn around to Rufus sitting behind me. I reach down and pat his head.

"Alright buddy, what should we do while your daddy is gone?"

"Woof, woof"

We head out to the backyard for a bit as I throw his ball around and let him do his business. Eventually we head back inside and I head into the kitchen and try to clean up breakfast. I soon hear a knock at the door and for some reason I tense up as I freeze. I hear the knock again and I slowly walk to the front door. Rufus comes up behind me and quickly starts jumping around excitedly and barking.

"Who is it?" I ask nervously.

"It's Nathan's mom, sweetheart. Don't be afraid."

I cautiously open the door and there stands in front of me a beautiful older woman with a huge smile on her face.
