@malpulisicc and @masonmount have been long distance for about three weeks now, as preseason in the states started for the latter at the end of june. last night, mount was spotted clubbing with teammates ben chilwell and reece james. the three were seen leaving the club with some girls. no comments have been made from all parties involved.

AS Mallory's finger hovered over the green answer button, she wiped away her tears. She hadn't left her bed since that morning when she saw the tweets flooding her mentions, just waiting for Mason to wake up and call her. She wiped her nose one more time before answering, holding the phone up to her ear. "H-hello?"

"Mallory, whatever you saw, it's not true," Mason began, his heart pounding out of her chest. "Please, just listen to me."

"Okay."

Mason hesitated, not expecting that answer from her. "It isn't what it looks like. Yes, we went to the club, and I didn't tell you... which was wrong of me, I admit it, but I didn't want you to freak out-"

"What makes you think I'd freak out?" Mallory spat, sitting up straight in her bed. Her face twisted as she bit her tongue, trying to keep her anger inside. "What did you think I would do, tell you you couldn't go?"

"I just didn't feel like fighting-"

"Well, you did a good job avoiding one!" She snapped, throwing the covers off so she could pace the room.

Mason grumbled on the other side of the phone, the girl hearing the static coming as he too stood up to walk around. "Mallory, this is why I didn't tell you! I knew you wouldn't trust me, because of Archer-"

"Oh you're really gonna bring that up?"

"Well, it's true, it's your trauma-"

"Don't you start that with me, Mason Tony-"

Mason scoffed, "I still don't completely trust you not to just up and leave me for someone else-"

"Don't throw that in my face!" She snapped, having to pull the phone away from her head to keep herself from throwing it. "That isn't fair, and you know it."

The boy hesitated, "I didn't mean to throw that in your face. All I was trying to say is that... I understand if you don't feel like you can trust me completely. I don't know why I didn't tell you, I should've. I should've trusted you, and trusted that you know me, and you know that I wouldn't ever hurt you intentionally."

The girl hesitated, not wanting to hear the answer to her next question. "So who's the girl in the tweets?"

"She's literally someone who was following us around to get to Chilly," Mason responded, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "I promise, Mallory, nothing happened. Ask Reece, or Chilly. Please, darling, just believe that I would never cheat on you."

"I know."

"What is happening to us," Mason asked with a sigh, rubbing his hand over his eyes, biting back the lump in his throat.

"I just don't like how this distance makes us... different."

"I don't like it either."

"I miss you."

"I miss you more."
