Savannah's Poem to Alex

A darkness, my constant companion here;
You having been my only source of light.
A shadow of the girl you once held dear;
I am struggling to stay in the fight.

Time continues to tick on without you;
My true existence fades with your absence.
Do my choices cause you to suffer too;
Following one’s dream but at what expense?

Side by side, a future I hope to see;
Giving strength to your light within me!

Author's note,
             This is a poem she wrote while still at Berkeley, missing Alex, and trying to figure out how and when to tell him she is pregnant. I dont know where in the story to put it. Do I place it randomly during that time in the book? Or do I tell Alex read it in her journal? If he reads it do I put it at the hospital scene when he first reads it...or some time later. It truly has no place in the book but I felt like I needed to write it. Now its just sitting on my computer waiting to be read...so here it is.

If you have an idea on where to place it please share. I can easily move it around.
