[Psalm]

It's been days after I met the injured stranger. It was the strangest encounter I have ever had.

River Levin.

I can't help but wonder if he made it back home safely. Should I have asked him to stay? But wouldn't that come off wrong if I said that?

I feel irritated. "Dammit!"

"What's up?", Sadie scoops beside me grinning.

"Nothing."

"You've been having that look on ever since last week." She mutters. "Has something caused you any trouble?"

I shake my head. "Not really. I just can't seem to shrug off a thought."

"Aha?" She eagerly waits for me to continue.

I quietly stack up the shelves with freshly baked bread. "Well, I met a stranger."

"Go on." She smiles. "I'm listening."

I planned on keeping this encounter a secret but Sadie is the only friend I have and letting her know could save my life if something happens to me.

"He was bruised and stabbed in the side. He was slouching in front of my house." I go straight to the point making her widen her eyes.

"Hold on! Did you let him in?"

"Yes-"

"What if he was a killer?!", She gives me a look. "Why didn't you call the cops?"

I embarrassingly chuckle, "In that moment my rational side left me. I pitied him and decided to treat his wounds."

She looks disappointed in me, "You're too kind. Your kindness will kill you one day."

"I get that a lot", I admit.

And I have been there...

I don't say it out loud. I proceed to continue the story," He seemed genuine and even thanked me. He could've taken advantage of me if he wanted to, but he did not. We exchanged names."

She sighs, "I suppose. So who's that lucky guy?"

"River Levin." I mutter.

A grin forms her red lips, "Did you exchange numbers too?" I shake my head making her frown. "And how do you plan to meet up again?"

I laugh. "Probably never. He said he'd return the favor to me, but I don't know what he meant by that."

"Maybe he'll show up again?", she adds.

"Maybe."

Working two part-time jobs isn't easy, but it's better than having no job at all.

Here I am doing another 6 hours in the library. I can't complain since I love the silence and the atmosphere.

All I have to do is check in some books, organize them, type in customer's names in the list and order new books.

On top of that, when I have done all those things and I'm not needed, I can read books I like as well.

"I'd like to borrow these for a week." A high school student hands me the books and her library card as I scan them in.

"Surely." I smile. "Just give me a minute."

"Thank you." She returns a smile as she walks off with them.

I love this job!

My eyes roam around the room. I notice some college students studying with their friends, elderly people spending their time in here and a familiar young boy in the children's section.
