I Couldn't Protect Him

"Ok,, something is wrong"

Kel sat up and looked down sadly "Y-Yeah...Heh, your right."

Hero sat down next to him "Do you wanna talk about it?..."

Kel looked at Hero and then tears started forming in Kels eyes. "H-How could I be so stupid?..." Hero widened his eyes in shock "Hey! What happened?!" Hero said worriedly. "I-I couldn't even notice! I couldn't protect..."

"I couldn't protect Sunny!" Kel whimpered

"K-Kel, you're scaring me...what happened to Sunny?"

"H-He..."

Kel thought back to what had happened to Sunny. He was too afraid even to admit it.

"No!..." Kel shook his head left and right and had his hands on his head

"Hey... say it word by word. Relax"

"I-I CAN'T!" Kel shouted "I J-JUST COULDN'T PROTECT HIM! I WAS SO STUPID...I-I let him down...And now I-I don't feel like I'm good enough anymore."

"Heh, i-its not like I was good enough for anyone right, Hero?"

Hero eyes widen 

Hero placed his hands on Kel's shoulders "Kel! Don't say things like that!" Hero said. Kel wiped the tears from his eyes and looked up at Hero. Hero was devastated to see Kel like this but something also troubled him.

Sunny

Kel kept on saying he couldn't protect him but from what? Was Sunny hurt? Did they get into a fight? All the questions in Hero's head made him overwhelmed. Hero wanted Kel to tell him what happened to Sunny but he wouldn't budge. 

While he was thinking he was cut off by Kel speaking

"H-He hurt himself"

"Huh?" Hero said

"Sunny...he hurt himself on purpose."

Hero was shocked he couldn't believe what was coming out of Kel's mouth. He didn't want to think of what he thought Kel was referring to. "Kel, what do you mean by that?" Hero said worriedly Kel looked at Hero and fiddled with his fingers. Then Kel said something that explained it all in one word

"Self-harm"

Kel began to break down 

"Y-You see? I-I COULD OF PROTECT HIM! I-I DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS GOING THROUGH THIS!"

Kel started hyperventilating and Hero tried to calm him down but Kel couldn't stop talking bad about himself and repeating he couldnt protect Sunny. Kel had his knees to his face, sobbing a neverending waterfall of tears. Hero patted Kel's back and told him that it was not his fault 

The thought of Sunny hurting himself was making Hero uneasy 

But why though?

Why did he do it?

Did we do something wrong?

Are things happening at home?

Did someone pick on him?

No...Sunny was with Aubrey, Basil, and Kel

Maybe Sunny was stressed? Now that's a bad thing
