The patients soon get within almost touching distance "Go to your room. Go to your room. I mean it. I'm very, very angry with you. I am very, very cross. Go to your room!" the Doctor tells them, making them stop, hang their heads in shame, shuffle away and climb back to their beds "I'm really glad that worked. Those would have been terrible last words." the Doctor tells the others. "Why are they all wearing gas masks?" Rose asks, looking at the patients. "They're not. Those masks are flesh and bone." Damon tells her. "How was your con supposed to work?" the Doctor asks Jack. "Simple enough, really. Find some harmless piece of space junk, let the nearest Time Agent track it back to Earth, convince him it's valuable, name a price. When he's put fifty percent up front, oops! A German bomb falls on it, destroys it forever. He never gets to see what he's paid for, never knows he's been had. I buy him a drink with his own money, and we discuss dumb luck. The perfect self-cleaning con." Jack explains. "Yeah. Perfect." the Doctor tells him sarcastically. "The London Blitz is great for self-cleaners. Pompeii's nice if you want to make a vacation of it though, but you've got to set your alarm for volcano day. Getting a hint of disapproval." Jack comments. "Take a look around the room. This is what your harmless piece of space-junk did." the Doctor tells him. "It was a burnt-out medical transporter. It was empty." Jack defends himself. "Rose, Damon." the Doctor says making them look at him. "Are we getting out of here?" Rose asks. "We're going upstairs." he tells her. "I even programmed the flight computer so it wouldn't land on anything living. I harmed no-one. I don't know what's happening here, but believe me, I had nothing to do with it." Jack continues to defend himself. "I'll tell you what's happening. You forgot to set your alarm clock. It's volcano day." the Doctor tells him. A siren suddenly sounds "What's that?" Rose asks. "The all clear." Jack responds. "I wish." the Doctor says, leaving the room.

Damon, Rose and Jack all walk out into the corridor, trying to work out where the Doctor went "Mister Spock?" Jack calls making Damon snort slightly. "Doctor?" Rose calls. They run past the staircase "Have you got a blaster?" the Doctor asks from the next flight up, the three of them stopping and looking up the stairs "Sure!" Jack responds, running up the stairs with Rose and Damon following. The three of them join the Doctor outside a secure metal door "The night your space-junk landed, someone was hurt. This was where they were taken." he explains. "What happened?" Rose asks. "Let's find out. Get it open." the Doctor tells Jack. "What's wrong with your sonic screwdrivers?" Rose asks quietly. "Nothing." Damon responds. Jack's blaster disintegrates the lock "Sonic blaster, fifty first century. Weapon Factories of Villengard?" Damon asks, taking the blaster and looking at it. "You've been to the factories?" Jack asks. "Once." the Doctor responds. "Well, they gone now, destroyed. The main reactor went critical. Vaporized the lot." Jack tells them. "Like he said. Once." Damon tells Jack. "There's a banana grove there, now. I like bananas. Bananas are good." the Doctor says, walking into the room. "Nice blast pattern." Rose comments. "Digital." Jack tells her. "Squareness gun." Damon says, renaming the sonic blaster. "Yeah." Jack says. "I like it." Rose tells Jack, taking Damon's hand and pulling him after the Doctor.

Damon looks round the room and notices that the observation window across the room is completely broken "What do you think?" the Doctor asks. "Something got out of here." Jack responds. "Yeah. And?" the Doctor asks. "Something powerful. Angry." Jack says. "Powerful and angry." Damon nods, looking at the crayon drawings scattered on the floor and a teddy bear. "A child? I suppose this explains Mummy." Jack comments. "How could a child do this?" Rose asks. Damon goes over and turns on a tape machine "Do you know where you are?" Doctor Constantine asks on the tape. "Are you my mummy?" the child asks. "Are you aware of what's around you? Can you see?" Constantine questions. "Are you my mummy?" the child repeats. "What do you want? Do you know?" Doctor Constantine asks the child. "I want my mummy. Are you my mummy? I want my mummy! Are you my mummy? Are you my mummy? Mummy? Mummy?" the child asks. "Doctor, we've heard this voice before." Rose tells him, motioning to herself and Damon. "Me too." the Doctor responds. "Mummy?" the child asks. "Always are you my mummy? Like he doesn't know." Rose says sadly, Damon holding her hand in comfort. "Mummy?" the child repeats. "Why doesn't he know?" Rose asks.
