I love my best friend
But there is a downside to being so close to someone as I am with her

Tears fill your eyes as you hug her mom
And you pinch your skin to hold it all in as you pull away
But knowing she was always there for you
By far was the best part
Even if it meant showing my broken heart

And I only hope I meant this much to her
When life turns into a blur
And she can't breathe
It's the only job I will never retire
As long as she'll have me and doesn't mind tears on her pillows
