Jason dropped his shoulders. That is right he still had to face the music for bringing them here and somehow start the GooseBerry alliance chain quest.
'What were you thinking?! Bringing them here to the middle of our camp. Totally unacceptable." Aggy harshly whispered in his ear as they walked away.
"Obviously, you were expecting me so to something like that. Weren't you?"
"We were expecting you to bring one other player, not your whole team!"
Aggy was genuinely angry.
Jason took responsibility, "I understand, but she wouldn't come without the rest of the team. Don't you need more players. From what I can see you are going to need a lot more than just us."
The king shook his head, "We need a lot of things. But most of all we need loyalty and responsibility."
"Fine, then I will take responsibility for them. Whatever they do I will make up for or provide for."
Jason said the words easily, but they must have been what Aggy was waiting for because he stopped put his hands on Jason's shoulders and intoned.
"Are you sure?"
The teenager shook his head, "Yes, yes, I am sure."
"Alright then, we are square."
"You know you sound and act like you are a player yourself you know..."
Jason left the words hanging, he was truly curious where this orc came from.
Aggy smiled, "That is an easy one. My father was a player who married an orc princess. Lucky bastard that he was."
"Wow, I didn't think you were half orc?"
"Oh, I am full orc. It is an interesting part of the system, a baby between a native and a player always takes the race of the native. It doesn't matter which race the baby is a full blooded member of that race. Don't ask me about genetics or what they inherit from the player parent. It just happens that way."
"That is interesting."
The king gave him a sly wink, "Do you want to know what race a baby is between two players?"
Jason grunted, "No, come on man, I can't be thinking like that! I wasn't even!"
Laughter erupted from Aggy and Captain who had been following behind and to Jason's left.
"Just teasing you boy. Just teasing."
The player between the two orcs blushed red and looked down.
"Alright, first things first. I am assuming you want to take the hero route?" Suddenly Aggy became serious.
"Hugh? No, I heard about this from Nichole. I want to take the supply route."
They had been walking between tents this whole time and now they had just arrived at a place where the tents became few and far between. Then they were gone and they were walking across a field.
"Are you sure?"
"You keep on asking me if I am sure? Why? Of course I am sure I want to take the supply route. Why not?"
Jason protested.
"Hey! I just want to make sure. I want to look out for the new guy, you know."
"Okay, then. Let's do it. Give me the supply quest."
Captain came around to face Jason, "Are you sure?"
Now Jason felt like they were trying to get him to play hero.
"Yes, I am really really sure, but if you guys need me to play hero I can play hero. I don't want to but, if it helps out more than, I guess I could do it."
Aggy imediately stepped in, "No, no, we need supply much more than hero. There are plenty of heros. Boltgrinder back off. If he wants to be a supply chain player the. Let him be."
Jason just shrugged.
Captain said, "So be it."
And a notice popped for Jason.
[Build six farms
Winning conditions: Have six games survive for twenty minutes.
Loosing conditions: Death. Run out of money or wood. Loose your TownHouse.
Gold: 2000
Lumber: 800]
Jason read the words and then looked up at the orca.
"This looks like hard mode. What kind of quest is this?"
They both looked sheepish.
"This is all we can give you. I am sorry."
"You have this huge army here, and all you can give me is 2000 gold? What happened?"
"..."
"Alright, well I better get started. At least I have an entire Alliance worth of troops to keep these farms safe."
"..."
"Oh, you can't commit your troops? Let me guess if they protected the farms the entire opposing army would ride out and it would be armegedon. Right?"
"..."
"That was supposed to be a joke..."
Captain confirmed when Aggy refused to speak.
"No you are right, our army is keeping their army tied down. We can't move unless they move and vice versa."
Jason gulped audibly, "But they can send some small groups over without making you guys move."
"That is correct, we won't moved unless a sizable portion of their army moves. But rest assured that if a large contingent attacks you we will be there to save you."
This time Aggy made his assurances.
