She began explaining. Basically Jason was a blank, while he did have access to the system, it was almost like the gods had forgotten him. So the dragon was volunteering to 'write in' the pieces that he was missing. She would give him the workers, and resources to begin the game. What he had to do in return was to do one simple thing for her.
"You want me to raise your kids for you?" Jason was flabbergasted.
"Yes, it is pretty simple." Azeroth said easily.
"Why can't you do it?"
"What are you crazy? Don't you know, dragons don't raise dragons. When have you ever heard or read of dragons raising dragons?" she inquired.
Jason pulled his head back and dumbstruck by the question, "I mean, I just came to this world, I don't know anything about it."
"Fair, but my question still remains. Even in your world in your literature." She elaborated and then went on when he gave her a quizzical look, "Yes, I have done research on the worlds that seed this system. I know you have legends of us. All kinds of stories. In all those stories do dragons raise their own kind."
"Ummm, I think there are some..."
Azeroth looked at him hard.
"There are some, okay! And it is implied heavily in others." Jason defended himself.
But Azeroth sighed, "Alright, alright, if you won't take the point, you won't take the point. Listen here in this world, dragons do not raise their dragonets. It is not that I don't want to, I love all my children." She swung her arm out to include all the currently empty campsites. "But we are just as much spiritual, emotional, and mental as we are physical. Do you understand what I am saying?"
"No." Jason said it simply and easily not trying to tempt her anger.
"Humans!" Then controling her frustration, "Look dragonets need to connect to and attach to a care giver when they are born and I for all my great powers and strength can not do it."
"It just doesn't make sense, it doesn't follow nature doesn't work like that?" Jason said obstinately.
She huffed at him, "Who are you to say how nature works, my friend. Listen to me. I can not connect with my babies. Dragons embody the hopes and dreams of those who nurture them."
This time when she said it something clicked for Jason, "Oh! I get it now. Is that why there are so many different types of dragons? In all the stories on earth dragons have so many different sizes and shapes. Some are smart, some are ... not so smart. Some have six limbs and some have four. Some don't have wings..."
"Yes, yes..."
"So is some sort of taming?"
"No..." Azeroth sighed, "It is not like taming at all. You can not tame a dragon."
"Hmm, then summoning?" Jason tried again.
"What like drawing a circle and poofing a dragon out of thin air?" She asked.
Jason shrugged, "I don't know how they summon here, but sure, the thin air part."
"No."
"Like how witches have familiars?" he tried again.
Now Azeroth adjusted her hair, "What is this 'familiar'?"
"I don't know really, but usually it is like a spiritually connected animal. They can read each others mind and having a familiar is usually what allows the witch to have magic powers." Jason was starting to get hopeful.
"No."
"Awww come on! That would have been fun to have magic."
"Players do not have magic. And reading minds is out too. Remember you are human. Humans are one of the only player groups that have literally no strength, no powers, not even speed."
