Karkat walked through Kanaya's lawn, just like he had so many times before. He was always told not to, but he never felt like walking around to the driveway and then to the path that led to the front door. The lawn was so much faster.

He was pretty pumped for tonight. Kanaya was driving him out to some huge party that anyone who was anyone was going to. The only reason he wasn't driving was because he was planning on getting drunk as fuck, probably stoned off his ass too. Gamzee would be there, meaning there'd be some good shit. Depending on how good said shit was, he might even fancy getting some to go.

He was excited to say the least.

He walked to the front door and banged, yelling as he did. "KANAYA OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR I'M HERE NOW." He yelled. His voice was naturally loud, so yelling for him was like screaming into a megaphone. If you've ever screamed into a megaphone, you know how unbelievably loud that can be.

Karkat could practically hear Kanaya cringe. He loved screwing with her. She got embarrassed and pissed of so easily. It was hard not to mess with her once in a while.

He smirked to himself as she opened the door. "That was in no way shape or form necessary." She scolded, pulling him inside. Her face was green from embarrassment and she quickly shut the door to block out curious glances from neighbors.

"I'm sure the whole street knows you're here now." Kanaya snapped.

He rolled his eyes. "Well good. I meant to harold my important presence. If anyone comes to the door for autographs, tell them I'll be at the library doing autographs Friday night."

She narrowed her eyes and sighed. She didn't want to deal with him right now.

She had mostly learned to put up with him, but he still took her by surprise most of the time, which wasn't surprising. Kanaya was pretty laid back, so constantly-cursing-and-yelling-Karkat was kind of a big deal to her.

Karkat took a moment to look around Kanaya's well-decorated home. She had really gotten the hang of the whole human custom of decorating their hives with odd trinkets and strange colored liquid. Karkat on the other hand, had not. He really had to get Kanaya over there at some point to help him. Right now, his hive was a mess.

He still chose not to say home or house. His hive would always be a hive no matter what planet he was on.

She dragged him into the living room and sat him down. Taking a deep breath, she repeated what she had been practicing. There were many ways Karkat could take her news, and she was hoping for the best. If worse came to worse, she wouldn't take him. "Karkat listen. I need you to be driver tonight. I, uh, have plans." She blushed. Why was this so hard?

It was true though. She was meeting a human girl tonight, one she had been talking to for awhile. Tonight they would finally meet, and Kanaya wasn't sure what that would entail. Honestly, she didn't mind. The girl was attractive. She had short blonde hair, striking purple eyes, and an amazing smile. Kanaya couldn't help but adore her taste in literature, simply awed at her vast knowledge of human 'wizards'.

Karkat raised his eyebrows. "Plans?" He asked, his voice a high and teasing pitch. Kanaya never had plans.

Ever.

Kanaya having plans other than her usual book club or general outing was like Karkat not having plans.

Wait. Bad analogy.

Kanaya having plans was like Karkat having plans.

What kind of plans did she even mean? Karkat voiced his thoughts. "What the hell are you talking about?" He asked, this time more seriously. He would never say, but he cared about Kanaya. She was like a sister to him, and therefore he would do anything for her -even if that meant totally giving up his drunk-assed night for her 'private time' with some person. He wanted information. Whoever it was better treat her well or they'd be dead within moments.

"I'm talking about some plans I have with a girl I've been talking to." Kanaya blushed deeper. Honestly, Karkat's opinion didn't bother her much. Yes, they were best friends and had been for forever, but this was something Kanaya was sure about. She really liked this Rose girl. A lot. They were so much alike it was scary. Scary good though. Kanaya had finally found someone she clicked with, and she was in no mood to mess it up. She'd pace herself until she was sure of Rose's intentions as well.

Karkat rolled his eyes.

Again.

"Kan, have fun or whatever. It's your turn anyway." He grumbled, trying not to show his utter excitement for her. This was absolutely amazing! Finally, finally, Kanaya had met someone. About time in Karkat's opinion. He didn't really know how she'd been able to stay single so long. Of course, he had no room to talk. He couldn't remember his last real relationship.

Kanaya tried not to show her thrill, "Oh. Well thank you Karkat. We can go now." She said, offering him a smile that was itching to become a beam.

He nodded, following her out to her car. Once inside, Kanaya turned the radio on to one of her favorite stations.

Her favorite station just so happened to be Karkat's least favorite. She knew it too.

Instantly, he flicked the channel to something else.

She just moved it back.

This continued for a good 10 minutes before Karkat just shut the radio off with a huff. Kanaya chuckled. "What's so funny, dick-biscuit." Karkat snapped.

Silence.

Oh god. He'd just fucked up that insult.

Normally calm Kanaya couldn't contain herself. Laughter overflowed like an erupting volcano. "D-Dick-biscuit?" She laughed, green tears forming in the corner of her eyes from her laughter. Sometimes, Karkat was an idiot.

"I'm aware of what I fucking said." Karkat grumbled. 'Damn, quite the insult there, Karkles.' He thought to himself, looking up and feeling instantly relieved to see the rows and rows of cars parked down the street. He instantly recognized Gamzee's and he smiled. It'd be good to see his moirail again.

He practically jumped out of the car.

Kanaya was still howling in her car, tears still falling. It'd been awhile since she'd laughed this hard, and it felt good to finally let loose.

As her laughter died down, Karkat was halfway to the house already. Kanaya jogged forward to grasp his elbow.

"Remember dick-biscuit. Designated driver." She reminded, tossing the keys to him.

Karkat couldn't help but crack a smile.

He caught the keys with one hand and tucked them in his pocket.

"Yeah whatever."
