Saturday came way too quickly for any of their liking. It was actually Crosshair who had sorted out the funeral which gave Tech some time to relax, he trusted his little brother so he didn’t get too involved. The marksman had got in contact with his old military friends to make sure 99 had a good send off. The service was excellent as many people turned up, 99 knew a lot of people, it showed as people travelled from everywhere to witness the funeral. Brothers from all factions turned up including some high wealthy people. Even Cham Syndulla was there well under police custody but Crosshair made sure Hera was nearby at all times, the marksman himself was surrounded at all times as enemies of the past were in the room. Hunter made sure to stick near him at all times as the undercovers police officers were on edge the whole time. Tech and Crosshair hated it but had to put up with it.

What was even worse Nala Se and Tarkin appeared showing their respects, no one could stop them otherwise they would cause a scene but it gave the bad batch a shock at those who were their enemies. Crosshair made sure to stand in front of Omega, Hera and Tech. He couldn’t care about him, he didn’t think he could hurt anymore but he wasn’t allowing the two near any of his family even at this funeral dedicated to his father, 99.

Soon enough the service was over and the small party that was going to take place at Rex’s house was where they were all heading. Crosshair had asked if Echo didn’t mind watching the kids for a bit as he needed to pop a message with Hunter. The former arc trooper didn’t mind and told him to take his time, Tech was a bit weary but just informed his brother to be careful, Crosshair nodded as he was directed to Hunter’s truck. For once, Crosshair was allowed to drive, it was silent in the vehicle but none of them could blame each other. Hunter frowned at his husband, his frown only deepened as they entered a hospital car park.

“What are we doing here Cross?” Hunter turned to Crosshair who just sighed, he grabbed Hunter’s hand and directed him through the hospital until they reached a section Hunter wished they hadn’t. There above the door read: “Oncology”. Hunter gasped and tightened his grip on Crosshair, he wished he hadn’t come but his husband had asked him to come with him.

“Oh good! You finally listened to my advice” The voice of none other than Kix reached both their ears, the medic walked over to the two and gave them a look before directing them into a treatment room. Kix had made sure there was a private room ready for them. Hunter couldn’t get over his shock as Crosshair let go of his hand and sat down in the chair while Kix started his treatment, the marksman had remained ever so silent. “How are you feeling today?” Kix asked, the medic had been at the funeral but had only come back to work for one reason and that was the man in front of him. “I’m a bit icky but it's to be expected, will you please?” Crosshair gestured at Hunter who sat star stricken.

Kix sighed as he grabbed Hunter's arm and pulled him from the room and into the private office just opposite Crosshair, the marksman could see them through the glass but decided to just shut his eyes. “Hunter, this is the first time I have managed to convince him to bring someone in with him. I’m sorry that he hadn’t told you sooner and I couldn’t due to patient confidentiality” Kix explained, Hunter nodded gesturing for Kix to continue while his eyes never left Crosshairs relaxed body. “It's Leukaemia, it seems the tests Nala Se put you all through when you joined the spec ops, Crosshairs body reacted to it, not to mention 99 had it too but he did ask none of you were to be told until he passed. Crosshair knew because he bumped into 99 when they were both getting treatment. However, Crosshair is on the best treatment and he will…” Kix’s speech blurred out and became muffled, Hunter now understood why Crosshair was taking the jobs, he believed if he was killed on a job, he wouldn’t have to deal with ‘died of cancer’, the stubborn marksman always said an illness would never take him out no matter how severe it was. The jobs would also equal money which would fit the expensive treatment, Hunter had to grab a nearby object and it turned out to be Kix who was looking at him in concern especially when he paled.
