42.) a saint's cathedral

It was raining when I began my journey to the Saint's Cathedral.
Past the wet corpses, with damage sustained, cerebral.
I was innocent when you said I was evil.
Now I have to live with the darkness, how lethal.
Every brick that makes up this place is medieval.

And the grounds that it is built upon are just as haunting.
I hear the voices of lost spirits, calling and taunting.
I tried not to let this journey feel daunting,
but every leafless tree looks like lightning.
From the bats to the graves this place is nothing short of frightening.

You led me here,
only to disappear.
Mist fogs all, unclear,
but I refuse to fear
the night that does smear

all light into darkness,
plunging it into absurdness.
Sharpening my alertness
to the sharpness
of the moon's distant hardness.

It's a rock in the sky,
that looks like a pearl.
No-one asks why
a boy and a girl.

Stay here to continue what they started.
Even though they have long departed.
So much still remains uncharted.
Some of us remain nihilists, half-hearted,
holding remnants from the past simply disregarded.
But we'll discover what remains unguarded.

Prophecies that you've left behind
alongside holy scriptures that have been tampered with.
People with sight who are in fact blind
believing nothing or mere myth.

Show us the truth.
I lay on a pyramid of Egypt, waiting.
Over the pharaoh's tomb, wondering what I am awaiting.

The stars whisper your secrets into the echoes of the night.
And the sun knows it is worshiped, like gold spires shining bright.

What have you done why have you sided with the fallen?
Don't you know what they thought when from heaven
he fell?
Soon to be the ruler of Hell.

I'm here to bury you all in the sand,
deep beneath the blanket of this wasteland.
Don't try to struggle when death comes near,
for this is the path you chose not to fear.

Fools die fools.
All for mortal jewels.
Pathetic.
