Chapter 16

Forth was too excited to see Beam. He took a quick shower and changed his clothes in a hurry. He went down hurriedly too.

When Forth entered the elders were having a coversation.

"Beam seems to like our Lucy so much." Por asked Mr Baramee. 

"He does. He used to carry extra tiffin to feed the stray dogs in his school and university as we never allowed any pets in our house." Mr Baramee said, looking at Beam, ho was playing outside with Lucy.

"Hello, Mr Baramee. Hi, Beam." Forth greeted Beam. Forth greeted Beam who was holding Lucy in his arms.

Only both of them knew that they had met in Korea.

"Hello. You can call me Dad like Dream and Beam," Beam's father suggested to Forth.

"I will. Only if you call me your son, Dad." Forth said as he smiled at Mr Baramee who approved by nodding his head.

"Hi, Phi Forth." Beam greeted Forth.

Hearing Beam's voice was like a melody to Forth's heart. He felt as if he had met his long lost crush from high school. Forth's heart was beating faster.

Both Beam and Forth were trying hard to suppress their inner emotions but the happiness was unstoppable.

Mae asked everyone to go to the terrace for the celebration. Dream had stuck herself to Forth just like an adhesive. Everyone had some snacks till Por came.

Rin, Forth's sister came with her husband to the party and she felt weird when Dream came and hugged her. Dream took her to show her new collection of dresses and accessories.

Forth saw Phi Chai running in the house, looking for the sheets to cover the table. When Beam saw her he went to her.

"Phi, why are you running?" Beam asked her.

"Khun Beam, you don't need to bother yourself. Please enjoy the party."

"I will enjoy the party, but can you tell me what you need? Maybe I can be helpful."

"I don't want to bother you since you are our guest."

"I am not a guest. I insist."

"Actually, the last time we celebrated the birthday, Khun Dream kept the table covers somewhere and now she doesn't remember."

"Have you checked in the storeroom?" Beam asked.

"I did, but I couldn't find." Phi Chai replied.

"Let's find it there. I will help you."

Having no choice, they both went to the storeroom and started searching the table cloth. Forth was looking at them from the door and saw Beam walking to the big cupboard. He opened the door and took the table sheet out as if it was kept by him.

"Phi Chai, is this it?" Beam asked her and she came running to Beam.

"Yes, yes. That's it. Thank you, Khun Beam." Phi Chai said and rushed to the stairs. Forth turned immediately before Beam could see him. He hid and observed Beam. Beam came outside the room, locked the storeroom and handed the keys to Phi Day.

What surprised Forth was the ease with which Beam was doing everything. He knew the names of the house help, he knew where the things were kept and who holds the keys of the storeroom.

Forth had a doubt and he went to Dream. "Dream," he called Dream who was talking with Rin.

"Yes, Phi Forth?" She asked. "Can you get me the key to the storeroom?"

"I... Yes. Wait." She said and turned her head and saw Phi Lee and call him. "Hey, you, get me the key to the storeroom."

When Forth heard this, he got the answers to all his questions. "Phi Lee, no need. I guess, there's no need for it now. Thank you, Dream," Forth said and went to the terrace.

Beam was instructing all the house helps to keep the things here and there, to arrange them nicely and all of them were enjoying it so much. It was giving the happy vibe that their home had a few months ago.

In the evening, everyone was waiting for Por on the terrace. They sang the birthday song as Por entered the terrace and then Por cut the cake.

Mr Baramee gave a gift to Por and soon all started the dinner. 

Forth was sure his doubt was right. The only thing he wanted to know was 'why'?

Por and Mae sat beside each other on the round dining table. On Mae's right side Forth was sitting with Dream on his right side. Por's had insisted that Beam should sit on his left side. Next to Beam on his left, sat Rin and her husband and Mr Baramee was sitting with his wife next to them on their left side. So Dream and her mom was sitting beside each other.

Dream was being overly romantic with her husband. She was feeding Forth with her chopsticks after every two bites. Forth didn't stop her and that was irritating Beam more.

Beam wanted to finish his food as soon as possible. He bowed his head and started eating faster.

"Forth, son, what's this red rash on your skin?" Mrs Baramee looked at Forth and asked.

Everyone looked at Forth and indeed some red marks had started to appear on his skin.

"Did you feed him shrimp?" Mae asked Dream.

"Yeah. I peeled one for him." Dream said as if she had done something great. Little did she remember that Forth was allergic to shrimp.

Beam suddenly remembered that Phi Chai had told him that Forth had this shrimp allergy once and he was covered in red marks and hives for 2 days. The hives were itchy and he could not bear it.

As soon as he saw the red marks, he stood up from his place and went downstairs. Everyone was surprised to see Beam running downstairs.

"Dream, I had told you before that Forth is allergic to shrimp. Forth himself had told you that he was allergic to shrimps. Then, why did you feed it to him?" Mae asked Dream.

"Why did you not stop me, Phi Forth?" Dream asked with fake concernt. "I-I am sorry Phi Forth." Dream just ignored Mae and showed her fake concern to Forth for saving herself from the scolding.

Dream started shedding her fake tears when her apology didn't work.

Forth was not talking about anything. No one other than the people at the table understands anything.

"Mae, here." Beam handed Mae the First-aid box. "Which one is the anti-allergic medicine?" Beam took out some strips of tablet from the first aid box and showed it to Mae.

"Where did you get it?" She asked.

"It's from our room. I remember putting it in the left drawer of the nightstand. Thank goodness it was still there."

"It's this tablet. Forth, take it." Mae handed Forth the tablet. Rin was angry at Dream beyond limits.

Beam offered a glass of water to Forth which Dream snatched from him and gave to Forth. Forth took the tablet, gulped with water and went downstairs immediately.

Everyone became silent. No one wanted to speak first.

"We will talk after dinner," Por said and told everyone to start eating. Everyone compiled. Dream sat beside her mother.

Beam didn't know whether to sit and eat or follow Forth.

"Beam, bring him here," Por told Beam. Beam didn't think of anything before following Forth.

Dream stood up to follow Beam but her mother held her hand and stopped her.

Dream removed her hand from her mother's clutch and ran behind Beam.
