The first note of the piano filled the arena and the audience started to cheer loudly. Being that this is the week the fans of the show get to vote for the song the acts chose, many of them were happy that Jay Cee El is singing this song. When we were told that this was the first song that we'd be singing I didn't mind at all. This was a classic and was one of my favorites. I remember when I was little I would dance around to this song and sing it on the street.

I looked to my left and smiled when I saw Liz holding the guitar. I know how much she loves the instrument and she loves it when she can play it on stage. I looked to my right and saw Julie tapping her fingers to the beat of the song. I smiled again, feeling at home on the dark stage.

"Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world. She took the midnight train goin' anywhere." Julie started the song, the vocals strong. I stepped closer to the microphone stand and closed my eyes.

"Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit. He took the midnight train goin' anywhere." I sang. I looked over at Liz as she started to play the guitar. I don't know that much about guitars but I know enough to know that she is very talented with it.

"A stranger in a smokey room," Julie sang after the short guitar solo. "The smell of wine and cheap perfume. For a smile they can share the night, it goes on and on and on and on." The lights lit up the stage and you could see the stage set up like boulevard.

Julie sang again. "Strangers, waiting, up and down the boulevard. Their shadows, searching in the night." She sang.

"Streetlight people," I took over, "Livin' just to find emotion. Hidin', somewhere in the night." I sang, holding out the long note.

"Workin' hard to get my fill, everybody wants a thrill. Payin' anything to roll the dice, just one more time. Some will win, some will lose. Some of them just sing the blues. Oh, the movie never ends, it goes on and on and on and on." Liz said.

"Strangers, waiting, up and down the boulevard." I sang, then Julie joining in with me. "Their shadows, searching in the night."

Julie and I kept singing as Liz joined in. "Streetlight, people, livin' just to find emotion. Hidin' somewhere in the night." We sang, Julie holding out the long note. Liz went straight into her guitar solo, walking towards center stage. The audience screamed loudly as Julie and I joined her up in the front to finish the song.

"Don't stop, believing. Streetlight, people. Don't stop, believing. Hold on. Streetlight people, don't stop believing. Hold on to that feelin', streetlight people. Don't stop believin', hold on to that feelin'. Streetlight people. Don't Stop."

The song ended at once and the only sound was the crowd screaming. I smiled widely, breathing heavily after singing so much. I looked over at Liz and watched as she smiled, the flashing from cameras lighting up her face. She looked over at me and giggled, making me laugh as well.

Looking at Julie next, her usual confident smirk on her face. I couldn't help but smile at her, she was so confident in herself. It was admirable and definitely something that I wished I had.

After a solid minute the crowd finally was quiet enough for the judges to talk. And when they did, I couldn't help but smile. We received amazing compliments from all of the judges. The feeling of being the favorite act in the show was indescribable. It was obvious that the judges all fell under our spell, I wasn't too sure about our viewers but I knew that a lot of them liked us. And that feeling was something I hope I never have to give up.

"I'm so excited to sing this song. But I'm so nervous. This will really define whether or not we meet One Direction. What is something happens and we go home tomorrow night?" Liz said, looking at Julie. The brunette was fixing her beanie as Liz talked to her, while I was drinking from a water bottle.
