CHAPTER ONE

I leaned back against the plush seat of the private jet. It would be a few hours to travel to Europe, and I wanted to catch up on some missed sleep, so I shut my eyes, and zoned out.

*

My brown eyes opened when I realised that the jet had landed. Rubbing my eyes, I picked up my day bag and made my way out of the plane. Nat was already ahead of me, and talking to some man that I didn't recognize. I mean, was I supposed to know anyone here? It was my very first mission and I hadn't been an agent for very long.

I heard could hear Natasha's voice saying something, but I tuned her out, and observed my surroundings. It seems we had landed on a private airfield. It was probably a random S.H.I.E.L.D. airfield that they decided to make.

The asphalt was overgrown. Spouts of green grass popped up, here and there, making the place look deserted and unkempt. The control tower had broken down, with pieces of metal flaking off like chipped nail polish.

But, being pretty familiar with how S.H.I.E.L.D. worked, I knew that that was just a facade, and that inside, it was well kept, and all very techy.

We kept walking.

Soon, we entered the airport building, and made our way towards the heart of it all: the control room. I have no clue why we were going there, so I just followed, and didn't voice my questions.

Once we reached the main room, I realised why we were there. We needed a debriefing on what was expected of us, and what was to be done. Both Nat and I sat down.

Instantly, my feet tucked themselves against my body. It was the way I liked to sit, either that or being able to swing my legs. Now comfortable, I tuned into the conversation.

"You'll be heading into staying in central London. We have rented one of the most expenses houses in London, just in case you have people over. You need to look the part." A random man said.

Natasha nodded. "Agreed. We will also need to have the right clothes." I leaned forward eagerly. Shopping. "You're right. So that is why it has already been sorted out, and the clothes are at the house."

No shopping. I leaned back into my chair, now suddenly uninterested in the ongoing conversation. I just wanted to get to the house and start the mission already.

"Right, let's go." The man said, standing up. I shot up. Already? But, it seemed like we haven't covered everything yet. Oh. My. Gosh. I'm not prepared enough for this. Maybe, I should go back to the tower to train for a few more months, maybe years.

"Avallone, are you coming?" Natasha asked, glancing over her shoulder. She was just about to walk through the door, and I was still standing in front of my chair like an idiot.

I nodded. "Right, coming." I quickly followed her, smiling at the others in the room as I sped by them. I need to be way more on to it. I can't zone out like that again, it could cost me the mission, or even my life.

We exited the airport and entered into a black Mercedes. Inside, the seats were a black leather. Both Natasha and I were sitting in the back, with another random guy in the front. He was different from the other one who was talking to Nat before. This one was probably going to be our driver for the whole time. Awesome! Personal chauffeur.

*

After half an hours drive, we pulled up in front of a massive house. It reminded me of a barbie doll house, you know, like the giant pink ones that you get, but except this one was white.

It had three stories, which wasn't much when you lived at Stark Tower, but still, it was pretty amazing. The first story was just normal, with nice wall-tall windows that were all around the mansion.

The second story had a giant balcony, and you could get to the ground on it. From the front, you could see the rounded part of the balcony, but at the back it came around, and then slowly spiraled towards a giant pool.

The third story also had a balcony, well more like separate balconies. All the bedrooms were on that story, and each had their own private balcony, and you couldn't see the other balconies from your own.

I was absolutely speechless. Even though I had spent a lot of time at Stark Tower, this took my breath away. It was beautiful.

"You better get used to it quick, Agent Clancy, as you'll be having people over, and if you gawk at it everytime, they might suspect that something is up." Our chauffeur said, cutting into my thoughts.

I nodded in reply, and stepped gracefully out of the car. I felt like a freaking princess now, with a huge mansion and private chauffeurs to - AH! I ran over to the shining white Lamborghini in glee. No way, this cannot be happening.

Turning to Natasha, I saw her wide smile and blushed. I was acting like the new bee I was. Right, I have to get my head on straight if I want to do this right.

I calmed myself and nodded to Natasha, signaling that I was quite calm. She smiled again, and we walked inside. Our chauffeur didn't follow us, as he drove the cars, instead, we were greeted by a personal maid.

"Hello, my name is Maria, and I will be your maid for your stay here. Let me show you around the house." She said, but I quickly cut her off, by grabbing onto her arm. "Maria, please, you may show my friend around if you like, but I will be exploring."

Releasing her arm, I received a smile from my best friend and she nodded to Maria, who looked absolutely shocked. Obviously this didn't usually happen. Oh no, was that my first mistake?

"My friend, Avallone, she is a bit new to the whole business. Just let her be, and I'll show her around later, if she likes. Please, continue. I shall follow." Wow. Nat sounded like a professional business - oh, right. She is used to acting and stuff.

I smiled sheepishly and skipped towards the stairs. The would keep the most important rooms in the nicest place in the house. So, the bedrooms would be on the third floor.

Pushing open a door, I stepped into a magnificent room. I walked over to the bed, and read aloud the note that lay on it. "Avallone." So, this is my room? I whirled around and studied the room more closely.

The walls were a cream colour, and the bed, which was a giant king sized double bed, had large light blue drapes hanging overhead from the ceiling, and the blankets and pillows were either light blue or the same colour as the walls.

There was a large vanity on my left side, opposite the door. It had three mirrors on it, like the one that Prince Charming used in Shrek. I stumbled towards it. Beautiful.

In the center of the room was a beautiful cream lounge set, with matching light blue pillows. The table was made of glass, and was huge. There was a light blue rug on the cream carpet, adding to the colour scheme of the room.

Opposite the bed, on the far wall, was two doors. One, I discovered upon opening, led into a large marble bathroom. It was too much for me, so I quickly shut it and examined what was through the other door.

A giant wardrobe, with rows and rows of clothes that had already been bought. Oh, and the shoes, and jewelry! Amazing! S.H.I.E.L.D. must have so much money to buy all this.

I made my way back to the bed, in a completely awed state and collapsed down, deciding to take a small nap.
