We sleep for three hours before the prison has gone silent

We sleep for three hours before the prison has gone silent. It's dark out when we get up. Jumping down from my top bunk, I move to the vent in our room. It's cliche, I know, but we aren't escaping through it.

I remove the front of the vent, reaching into it and grabbing two stacks of clothes. Pulling them both out, I set them aside as I close up the vent again.

I move to Marah's bed, dumping one set of the uniforms on her bed. I take off my prison jumper and change into the guard uniform alongside Marah. We put our hair up, putting the hats on.

Marah grabs her tattoo kit, slipping it into her uniform until we can get to our distraction. We share a look as we look around the hall in front of our cell.

"One minute." I whisper to Marah, noticing the clock on the wall, stating the new guards will be here in less than a minute.

Marah pulls out a key from her uniform and quietly unlocks our cell. She grabs the knife she stole the other day from one of the guards, and waits for me to come out. Once I'm out of the cell, she closes the door and we turn to head out of the hallway.

We are at the other end of the hall when the new guards get there. We step into the shadows in front of one of the cells.

We stand there for two minutes, before the guards start to check the cells. Once their back is turned, we walk quietly to the other end of the hall, where Bex is waiting.

We walk the rest of the way through the prison without any problems. We make it to the reception desk where we see our ride sitting.

Walking up behind her, me and Marah hug Ella, scaring her.

"Jesus." Ella whisper-yells. "Don't scare me like that, or I'll leave you here."

"Sorry." we respond, sheepishly.

"It's been too long girls." Ella replies, leading us towards the car. "Thank you for watching over them for me, Bex."

We walk to the car and get inside where we're handed a new change of clothes.

We sit in silence, the adrenaline leaving both me and Marah, causing us to finally fall asleep. Getting the first decent sleep that we've had in almost five years.

I close up the bakery early today. Walking up to my apartment on top of the bakery, I get inside and organize what I need for tonight.

I grab the two long sleeve collared blouse, one in black for Marah and the other in red for Sawyer, two plaid skirts, a yellow one for Marah and another in red and yellow for Sawyer, grabbing two pairs of black heels and two pairs of long socks, one in red for Sawyer and the other in black for Marah.

Packing up the clothes in two different bags, I move on to the paper's in front of me.

I have everything on Marah's family, hoping one of them will help her, but none of them see fit to do that.

'Klaus, the cult leader. Luther, the bare-knuckle boxer, Allison, the married civil-rights activist, and Diego, the now escapee from the mental hospital.' I think to myself. 'God, her families a mess.'

I put all the paper in the bag for Marah, hoping she'll get some use out of them. I walk to my room and change out of my work outfit and change into an outfit similar to what Marah and Sawyer will wear.

I put on the white collared blouse, the pink plaid skirt, black heels, and long white socks. Putting a white headband on, I grab the two bags and pack up my car. It's now dark. I head to my car and drive the hour to the prison.

I meet Bex at the gates, who let's me through.

"I'm about to go meet them in the hallway. Just wait in the visitors lounge." Bex commands, pointing towards the room in front of me.

I smile and walk in, sitting in one of the waiting room chairs. I sit for five minutes, before I feel two sets of arms come around me, causing me to gasp loudly.

I turn around to see Sawyer and Marah in guard uniforms. "Jesus. Don't scare me like that or I'll leave you here." I threaten.

"Sorry." both girls respond sheepishly.

I pull them both back into another hug. "It's been too long girls." I reply, leading them towards the car. "Thank you for watching over them for me, Bex."

I smile at the female guard, handing her the money I offered her, and walking to the car with my two troublemakers.

Once in the car, I hand them the clothes that I packed for them. Sawyer sits in the back with Marah in the front.

I look back at Sawyer to see her asleep in the backseat. Looking over to Marah, I see her looking at me.

"What's going through your mind, Rosie?" I ask, looking back at the road.

"Nothing. Just had a strange visitor." she responds, whispering as to not wake up Sawyer.

"You had a visitor?" I ask, slightly surprised. "Who was it?"

"My boyfriend. Well, ex-boyfriend, I guess." she mumbles. "He found me yesterday."

"After all this time, he finally came to say, hi?" I ask, looking over at her to see her looking at the road. "Why now? Why not five years ago?"

"We got separated five years ago. It's how I ended up in Dallas in the first place." she answers. "He just came to Dallas yesterday, and saw the article of me and Sawyer's trial from five years ago."

I look out to the road, wondering what her history was like. She hasn't told me much, just that her last name is Hargreeves. She's one of eight kids, all adopted. Abusive dad. 'And now, absent boyfriend.'

I look over to see her eyes have closed and her breathing has evened out. Looking back at the road I make the drive back to the bakery where they will stay the night and then be off in the morning, hopefully.
