Naturally having the ability to control or alter people's dreams wasn't that useful on mission, so most of the time Y/n stayed back. Studying most of the day and exploring others dreams at night. The Academy grew to dislike them, thinking they was weak and useless but they didn't know Y/n. They didn't know that Y/n was the one that kept the nightmares of what they had done out of their heads. They didn't know Y/n was the one that kept them sane. They didn't know just how powerful Y/n could be and apparently they didn't know Y/n had a breaking point, until they broke and everything came crumbling down. Turns out nightmares are some of the most effective ways to hurt people and drive them insane. And with the Academy out of commission, Y/n will have to take their place.

Reginald Hargreeves had adopted eight children into his care, not because he liked children (he doesn't) but because they were special, all born with supernatural abilities. Y/n was unintentionally adopted by Reginald because she is Diego's biological twin sister, her mother would only give Reginald Diego if he also took Y/n. Y/n Hargreaves was the strongest of the eight but she was one of the smallest, which Reginald couldn't have. He couldn't handle the embarrassment of the puny, small girl he never intended to adopt being stronger than her way bigger brothers and sisters. So y/n was forgotten, hidden away from the world. Only to be rediscovered by her siblings seventeen years later when they all came together for Reginald's funeral. Five Hargreaves and y/n are around 13-14 in this fanfiction. So yes they are minors.
