Tommy's POV

"All I'm saying is you should take it slow, sit her down and explain that it meant nothing" Freddie said
"Well not nothing" John chimed in
"Eh no-"
"No, he brought her to my wedding, he brought her to the pub, he flaunted her fucking everywhere, I'm surprised Mar doesn't already know, what's the big deal with her knowing anyway?" He asked, cutting Freddie off.

I looked at Fred, then Arthur. I felt bad not telling John about me and Mar
But I didn't know how to explain that we used to be... something. Something I fucked up.
"It's not a big deal, she's just still adjusting and I don't think telling her about my relationship problems will help" I dismissed.

I didn't know how she was going to react.

Mariana's POV

"You look happy this morning" I said, eyeing David's reaction
He shrugged
"Maybe I am happy" he said
"Oh yeah? What about?" I asked, crossing my arms amused.

"Nothing, it's just a good day and I'm in a good mood, satisfied?" He asked
"So it's not... a girl?" I teased, his face reddened slightly, confirming my suspicions.

"Is she nice?" I asked
"Not talking about it" he said
"Do you like her?" I asked
"Not talking about it!" He snapped again, heading out
"Does she like you?" I asked, following him into the hallway.

"Goodbye Mariana" he said pointedly, shutting the door loudly behind him.
A girl...
My mind couldn't accept that girls were now a part of David's mindset, he was still a kid.

And yet he wasn't
His best friend had a wife and two children.
Anything could happen these days,

The canal looked the same.
It all looked the same.
The water, the bridge overhead, the crates that always seemed to be left abandoned down here.

A secret place. Mine and Tommy's... once upon a time anyway.
Now it was nothing.
Just an abandoned tunnel.

With lost memories.
"What are you doing down here?" I heard behind me.
I didn't look back, as he soon sat beside me, dangling his feet over the water with mine.

"Thinking" I answered, finally sparing Tommy a glance
"About?" He asked
"Everything" I admitted
I wanted some alone time
Time where I didn't have to smile and be nice to people, pretend I was alright and act as thought life couldn't get any better now I was out of prison.
