March •1908• Mariana's POV
"Mum?" I called, she was closing her eyes a lot, barely responding to anyone "Mum?" David tried We were too busy trying to get mum to cooperate, we didn't notice that it had happened Not until we heard the cry.
And both of our heads snapped down to the little baby in the nurse's arms "Mum" I breathed out in disbelief "Mum look" I smiled, but I heard no response "Is it?..." "A girl" the doctor answered David.
"A girl" I mumbled, staring at the tiny thing The doctor had been examining mum since it had come out however And the fear was jolted back into me when I looked at mum "Mum? Mum?" I shook her slightly.
"What's going on?" I asked "Like I said she lost a lot of blood, it won't stop, I'm trying to help her but..." "But what?" David snapped "But I'm afraid it's not in my hands, if she doesn't stop bleeding... I need a moment with her please, to try and stop the blood flow" he said.
"We're not leaving" I said "Please, it's better for you to wait downstairs" he said I looked at her hesitantly, before I stood up, planting a kiss on her forehead and ushering David out, the nurse following us out of the room, before she handed the baby to me and joined the doctor again.
"She... she's so small" I said, looking down at her as we made our way downstairs "She'll be alright won't she Mar?" He asked I nodded "Of course" I said. Sitting down with nothing but fear in me.
"She's beautiful" Polly smiled, I handed her over, bobbing my leg as I waited "How is she?" Tommy asked "She lost a lot of blood" I said simply, trying to think properly "What?" Everyone chimed in shock.
"The doctors with her now" David said, before Arthur put his hand on his back in comfort.

We waited for around 20 minutes before the doctor came trudging down the stairs. "Is she okay?" David asked "Can we go see her?" I asked at the same time, both of us quickly standing up.
But he merely looked at us With an expression I knew Guilt. Regret. Compassion. My heart shattered and my mind stopped before my body could catch up "I'm sorry" he said
"No" I said, falling to the floor "Where is she?" David asked, in disbelief "We tried everything we could" he said "No no no" I cried, tears drowning my cheeks as someone I assumed was Tommy hugged me.
