Chapter 11 Indirect Whispers

Start from the beginning

You lifted your head slightly to look at him, "Huh!" You could see the seriousness in his eyes. The more surprising thing was that he knew that you were with Oikawa. "Where did that come from?" you asked.

"I recognized his voice when he spoke up. Why are you not telling anyone else about him?"

"First of all, he is my friend and secondly I...I didn't want to tell everyone...I mean specifically, you because...you are always fighting with him and their team also your rival that's why," you said with guilt.

You again looked at him, "Why does it even matter to you? Even if I was hanging out with him...he's just a friend and I don't think it's a rule to not be friends with rival teams."

He didn't say anything which instantly caused you to get out of the blanket.

\His silence was more irritating than his talking.

You were about to leave that's when Kageyama held your hand and pulled you inside the blanket again. He shifted his grip towards your wrist and pulled you closer to him.

Your eyes were directly looking into his dark blue eyes.

At that moment you realized how beautiful his eyes were, the deep dark blue color was so peaceful like a... Like a serene ocean.

You couldn't slip away from his grip because you were so lost in those eyes of his.

Your bodies were so close to each other that the only thing which was separating them was the hand on which he had his grip planted. But his face was so near to yours that you could feel his breath on yours.

The tips of your noses were almost touching making you blush. "It matters...it does," he whispered in his normal stoic tone expressing no emotion. You thought how could he be so normal?

But those words echoed through your mind."...if you think it's like that, it's not. You can be friends with him...I don't care about that. I just want you to be careful around him."

He does care about you. Even though those words won't come out of his mouth directly...still you could easily understand him.

"Why didn't you say that to me earlier? What was the point of dragging me again inside? I would have tiptoed on the way outside," you complained.

"Then you would have definitely gotten caught...Listen!, I think Takeda-san left the room," he tried to explain. You kept quiet because he was right about that.

"Can you leave my hand now?" you said. "Yeah!" he slowly removed his hand from your wrist and slowly moved away from you.

You slowly touched your wrist rubbing off the impressions of his finger's grip.

You looked at Kageyama, he had turned to the other side and you could see his back. You understood him through his actions and what he was thinking.

He thinks that I am feeling uncomfortable. I mean I am a little bit... What else can I even do in this situation?

You looked at his head and that's when your gaze landed on his ears which were red as a tomato. Wait! What he also blushing!!!

Of course, how can I be so stupid, being with someone of the opposite gender especially so close to each other would definitely fluster anyone.

"Kageyama, It's okay... you don't need to hide your face because of what you did. You saved me...from getting caught and I am thankful for it."

He turned his head and looked from the corner of his eyes and said, "Hmm."

After waiting about 10 minutes, there was no noise from the adjacent room. You tapped Kageyama's shoulder, "Kageyama I think they are asleep now."

"I also think so" he replied. You slowly slid the blanket from your face. You didn't want anyone else to notice you and Kageyama under the blanket so you got up and went towards the light switch and switched on all the lights.

Everyone got up from the brightness of the light except Hinata and Nishinoya-san as they were sound asleep together. Shimizu san and Katsumi hid together in Hinata's bed that's why they both were sleeping together. Everyone giggled as they saw that sight. It was funny.

You bid goodbye to everyone and decided to head back, Shimizu and Katsumi were also going home with you but they both were staying at Shimizu-san's place.

This meant you had to walk home alone at midnight. Your home was not that far away but it was kinda terrifying.

~Timeskip~

You were so sleepy by the time you reached home. You just walked towards your room in sleepiness that's when someone said 'Hello' to you.

And half sleeping you replied 'Hi'. You went to your room and laid down on the bed about to sleep.

Then a sudden realization hit you like a lightning bolt you ran back downstairs to find your brother in the living room making snacks. "Yo! I thought you didn't recognize me!"

"Onii-chan!" you mumbled across your breath.

"You are home pretty late, I think I should not tell Mom or maybe I should..."

His words didn't matter at that moment your brother was in front of you and you couldn't help but ran and hugged him.

"So you did miss me?" said his brother. "Kinda" you whispered.

"Wanna eat a sandwich?" he asked. You nodded.

~The next day~

You walked to school while enjoying the peaceful weather, as soon as you reached the school gate you noticed Oikawa standing with his back against the wall.

"Ahh Y/N-chan, Ohayou!"

"Ohayou! Why are you here..."

"I came here to meet you..." he said as he looked at you while zoning out.

"That's it?" you asked, making him return to reality.

"and...I wanted to return your scarf,"

"My scarf?" you tilted your head. "You left it on the train...you were in so a hurry to get to the training camp,"

He handed you the scarf, then you realized that it was your scarf. You actually forgot that you forgot your scarf. You wrapped it around your neck carefully and softly said, "Thank you so much Oikawa!"

His eyes widened. You asked him what happened.

He smiled and said, "It's the first time you have called me by my name,"

"Oh...Did I?" you laughed nervously.

"That scarf is close to you?" You nodded. "I also had a similar scarf when I was in middle school I guess. I don't remember that much but I think I lost it..."

"You lost it?" you said as you saw the glimmering ray of hope. You couldn't interpret what was happening. You never thought someone would say that to you. Oikawa's voice was slowly getting muffled and it was not reaching your ears.

You were zoning out as those memories again flooded your brain. You started to look for the face, that child's face...Was it really Oikawa? Have you found that person?
