Needing Each Other

"Y/n, I'll be okay. I promise you that I'll be okay." Hiccup starts before cupping your cheek. You lean into it while sighing and closing your eyes.

"We'll be okay," Hiccup finishes before pulling you into a comforting hug, placing an arm around your waist and a hand on the back of your head.

After a moment, Hiccup shifts so you're looking at him, and he smiles a little.

"Now, c'mon, tonight is one of fun." He smiles, which makes you relax, a smirk curling onto your lips.

"Even though I'm only half a Berkian?" You question playfully, making Hiccup laugh.

"Stoick's finally gonna nail you for losing all of Berk's gold!" Snotlout cackles as Berk comes into view, unable to contain his excitement.

"It's gonna be epic!" Snotlout then adds, Hiccup turns to look at him in confusion.

"We're not kids anymore, Snotlout. He's not going to 'nail me.'" Hiccup counters, using quotation marks at the end.
Mischief chirps before flying over to Snotlout, grabbing his shoulders and tipping the rider off his saddle. The twins start laughing at him as Snotlout's high-pitched screams echo through the air.

"HOOKFANG!" Snotlout shrieks since the Nightmare didn't realise his rider was tipped off the saddle.
Hookfang then looks down before roaring and diving down, only just noticing the situation that Snotlout was in.

"Do you think Snotlout will hit the water?" Ruff smirks, amusement evident in her voice.

"I think they'll both hit the water," Dracul responds, with Astrid humming in agreement.

The riders watch as Hookfang angles himself to allow Snotlout to get onto the saddle. Once the rider is in the saddle, Hookfang opens up his wings. Both let out their shrieks as the water rapidly approaches.

Hookfang finally catches himself just as his claws hit the water.

Once joining back with the group, they were close to the arena and Hiccup spots Stoick next to Gobber. You see him tense before having Nyra edge closer to Toothless.

"Hey, he'll understand," you tell him and he gives you an unsure smile before the group, minus the dragons you brought along, land in the Village square.

Stoick tenses at Hiccup while walking over, it's not a reunion he was looking forward to. Hiccup does not look enthusiastic about the meeting either.
He shies away from his father as he approaches, not meeting his eyes. Toothless stays close behind his rider, his body language cautious. After a long moment, Hiccup raises his eyes to meet his father's. Toothless grumbles nervously. Stock returns Hiccup's gaze, then sighs, making a decision

"How's life in the Great Beyond, Son?" Stoick asks gently, starting with an icebreaker.

Dracul tries to stop Snotlout from rushing towards them but is unsuccessful as Snotlout had already started the moment Stoick spoke. Snotlout leaps onto his cousin's back, making Hiccup stagger forward, with Snotlout housing a joyful expression.

"Ha! Funny you should ask, Chief. There's actually a--" Hiccup then places a hand on his cousin's mouth, pushing him away with one arm before looking at his father with a nervous smile.

"Yeah, it's great, Dad. How could it not be great? It's the Great Beyond. Right, guys?" Hiccup asks while looking over at the riders.

Astrid, Fishlegs, Heather, Dracul, and yourself mutter various assents and agreements over one another, looking everywhere but at Stoick. Hiccup laughs nervously before looking back at his dad, almost afraid to ask the question.
