Chapter 2: Excuse me? I do not volunteer as tribute.

-Daire’s POV-

“Holy Mac, Daire! How can you be so calm right now? I’m practically wetting myself and you’re just standing there looking at me as though I’m some idiot.”

I levelled my gaze to meet a pair of identical irises, though Drake’s blue orbs were tinted with anxiousness and excitement while my green eyes held its usual sceptic glint.

“I just don’t think that TWEP is something to get so excited about,” I told my brother flatly as he rounded the corner into our schools familiar parking lot. I waited as he parked our oxblood coloured mustang at our usual parking space.

Ah, how rude of me. I forgot to introduce me and what in the world was TWEP, which resembled the word twerp. Not much of a difference in my opinion.

I’m Daire Alexandra St Claire, but my peers aren’t bothered to use such a mouthful and simply call me Daire. Weird name, but hey, don’t judge. Call me Alexandra and I’d go all Jackie Chan on you. This doofus beside me happens to be my older twin brother, Drake Elton St Claire. We were the children of Benjamin St Claire, the founder of Alpha Enterprises, an international company, etcetera, and etcetera.

So, what in the world is TWEP?

In long form, The Wolf Exchange Programme was a prestigious event, where 5 girls and 5 boys were especially selected from schools all over the globe to attend Silver Moon Academy as freshmen.

To ordinary humans, TWEP was a private academy for snobby teenagers that had rich parents, and the Wolf in the title was just a way to make it sound all fancy.

Ah, but that’s where they’re so naive and innocent, it’s amusing.

You see, Lycans, or werewolves as you call it, and humans simply do not get along. Even though they didn’t know the secret behind our true nature, they still knew we ‘stood out’. That’s why TWEP was created, so wolves from different packs around the globe could be plunked into an academy to avoid rivalries between packs and all those.

Despite the good intentions, I found TWEP ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong or anything, but I hated how humans looked at us with disgust. Not all wolves were arrogant snobs. The separation between us and them through the academy seemed to only emphasize their point.

Every 3 years, on December the 20th, wolves would privately gather back in their local schools at the end of term break for the ‘it’ day. The selection date. In every school, there would be at least 1 wolf teacher to receive the letters from SMA and read it to the fellow students.

Guess what day today happened to be?

  The 20th of December. Yay.

  Sense the sarcasm there please.

Which brings us back to the events happening in the present, where Drake and I were stepping out of the vehicle and making our way into the school building.
