Matt + Reader (8-9 child)

Pov: Matt has a hunch and goes back to location 3, he finds something more serious than a trap. (Matt does not have family in this one-shot)

(Matts pov:)

I was sitting at a mega desk staring blankly at the abyss in front of me, the day it all changed still racks my brain. All I want to do is forget about that place but something deep down is calling me to it. Like I left something behind there. After swinging the padlock in my hands I couldn't take it anymore. I hastily stood up and grabbed my jacket and a spare hoodie before leaving my office.

Stepping out of the black room, I squinted before looking towards Sam who was sitting at the reception desk.

"Hey I'm off to location 3 call me if you need me" Sam stared at me like I had gone insane

"Wait Matt are you serious" confusion laced her voice.

"I have to.. something...I don't know what it is but something tells me to go back there" I tried so hard to explain my emotions but no real solution came to mind. Sam only sighed and nodded at me.

"Alright just please be careful and keep your phone on '' I nodded back at her with a weak smile and walked off to my Tesla. Throwing the hoodie  the passenger seat I got in and started my drive alone to a place that haunts my waking sleep.

*10 minutes later*

I stepped into the warm Santa Clarita air and strolled over to the Location 3 door, opening the creaking wood I stepped cautiously down the rickety stairs. Stopping in my tracks to see the smashed door in front of me. Blank images of Woods kicking in the door flooded my mind making me wince, but I slapped on a brave face and ventured into the abandoned facility.

Nothing had changed, the place was uninhabited. My eyes widened in shock as I noticed the light trail of blood leading down to the trap. I subconsciously touched the now healed scar on the back of my head. Knowing that its my blood made it so much worse but I pushed my dark thoughts aside and continued on.

I Inched further into the old lab, trying to silence my every move. My heart was pounding loudly in my chest, fear crept up my neck making me shiver. This place constantly popped up in my mind, no matter what I do I can never forget it.

The door. The vault door appeared before me. Without warning a wave of panic overtook my senses and I collapsed on the floor, clutching my chest and begging for air as the whole scene of that day replayed in my head like a horror movie. I couldn't move. I was stuck on the floor waiting for the ordeal to pass.

After a minute the faze faded and slowly I stood up again. I had no clue what they were, I always say they were panic attacks, it's what I hope they are but nothing can prepare you for the deafening ringing in my ears and the tightening of my chest every time I see a vault door. Even the one at the studio can send a shot of anxiety through my chest.

Then I heard it, the silent cry of a person. Immediately I turned my body towards the noise and ran quietly to the noise. Concern shot through me like a bullet as I reached a blank door bolted shut. With no key insight, I grabbed a nearby chair and broke the lock. A scream came from inside the room.

My shaking hand hesitated over the door, terrified I would end up in the same prediciment I did all those weeks ago but this time alone. After a deep shaky breath, I twisted the nob pushing the cracked door open. What I saw shook me to my core.

The room was pitched black, light flooding in from the space behind me. My eyes scanned the room looking for the life that was calling me. But when they landed on a tiny form in the corner of the damp room, my heart plummeted to the pit of my chest.
