Society papers

Dearest readers,

I have been informed about a rather scandalous pursuit at a certain modiste.

I will not give names to whom disagreed with a schemed fitting earlier today. Patience, after all, is a virtue.

Members of the ton would you deem an arranged marriage, unfashionable? It seems the diamond presumes so while preferring a man of dignity instead of the nobility.

Addressing another topic, I am quite the matchmaker for I can already sense the love between a spinster and a rake. Lord Bridgerton does intend to dominate the social season, I will have my pen ready to report on any of their activities.

                                  Yours truly, Lady Whistledown.

Emma and Beth read the scandal sheet, astounded at what the anonymous scribbler published. She didn't list names this time, but it was obvious who she was referring to. The woman loved putting other people's reputations on the line, but her own. She couldn't read another sentence of that insufferable woman. She had no honor, no respect, and surely no heart. Emma wasn't going to waste another minute of her day on ridiculous gossip.

She demanded that Beth burns the paper when she goes back inside, which she agreed to do once she said her daily goodbye. Emma took a deep breath while Beth fluffed out her frock. The curly blonde woman sent a smile of reassurance as a carriage came to a halt on the black gravel road. The Harrington quickly hugged Beth goodbye and gave them a peck on the cheek.

One of the coachmen hopped down from his seat and opened the carriage door. He reached out a hand as she walked over to him. Emma accepted the kind gesture and stepped inside, after sitting down on a lush seat she kindly thanked the man before they headed off to the Bridgertons.

Emma was escorted inside to the foyer of the gorgeous home. She stood there waiting for one of the family members to appear soon but got carried away by the furnished room. The wallpaper was white as snow as it colored the walls and the stairs had a pale blue carpet rolled down each step. The home sounded completely empty, Emma thought she had just missed them when multiple footsteps walked in her direction.

"Miss Harrington.." Violet said, coming to a complete stop in the foyer. The rest of the family followed.

"Lady Bridgerton, It is a pleasure to see you again." Emma greeted, keeping her hands behind her back. "I thought you never wanted to speak with us again?" Daphne wondered, still startled at the surprise guest.

"I want to mend relationships. My family, including me of course, thought it to be wise that we do so before any further conflict." Emma mentioned.
"We should have let you explain, but I hope this makes up for it." She brought her index finger and thumb up to her lips and then whistled loudly.

The rest of the Harrington family entered the foyer with tulips in hand and gift baskets full of sweets, baked by the most amazing woman, Hazel. They joined behind Emma and handed the gifts over to the staff of the home. Everyone stood there in dismay at the amazing, but dramatic entrance.
