The whole two weeks at my mom's was rejuvenating. She helped me erase John completely from my mind. She helped with pictures, valentine cards, birthday cards; you name it we got rid of it. But there was one thing, I couldn't give up. It was his team jacket; he gave it to me after he got on the JV team in freshman year. It was so cozy and it was practically mines. It wouldn't hurt to keep it right?

I called my best friend Ashli and she helped me with my 'rehab'. I avoided him at school and I didn't even glance his way. I was quite proud of myself; I thought getting over him was going to be harder. I actually stopped crying a week ago. I know he hasn't thought about me since that day, he's been too wrapped up with the cheer squad and dance team. And besides, winter break is in a week and it will be great to be single. By the time I had to switch back to my dad's house, I was nearly healed. It was like the 3 years didn't exist.

On Sunday night I was back at my dad's. When I unlocked the door and came inside, I saw my brothers sitting on the couch and my dad was sitting across from them on the recliner. They all shared worried expressions. Am I late getting home?

"Hey guys, what's up?" I asked cheerfully

My dad was the first to speak and also the first to stand.

"We have to talk." He said

"Am I late?" I asked worried, looking at my phone

I was actually an hour early.

"No that's not what we have to talk about. Have a seat." He instructed

I sat in between my brothers, now masking a face of confusion.

"Am I in trouble?" I asked

"No, of course not sweetie." My dad answered

"What's going on?" I asked

"I'm not an accountant." My dad blurted out

"Then what are you?" I asked

"I kill people." He said nonchalantly

I stared at him for a while before speaking.

"You're joking right, because this is not funny." I told him

"He's not joking." Andy said sternly

He was always the tough one, but he was really sensitive on the inside.

"So, you mean to tell me, when you go off to 'work', you kill people?" I asked

"Something like that." He nodded

"You guys don't look surprised." I said to my brothers

"Because we already knew." Andy said

"How long did you know?" I asked

"That doesn't matter right now-"

"Clearly, it does. Because it's to my understanding that I'm the last to know that I've been living with a serial killer." I said cutting my dad off

"I don't go around killing any and everyone." My dad defended himself

"Why am I the last to know?" I asked getting up

"I didn't think you would be able to handle it." My dad said

"Oh, so your 15-year-old son has better 'handling' skills than me." I shouted

"Calm down." Aaron got up

"I will not calm down. My life has been at stake this whole time, and no one thought to tell me. Especially you Aaron." I said storming off

Aaron gripped my arm to stop me. I had to look up since he was taller than me.

"Dad has something important to say." He told me
