Chapter 31

Not Now

"You missed my engagement party, how could you miss my wedding?!" sigaw ni Winter sa call.

"Hey, Gray! You'll register for this year's racing competition?"

He's a british, and one of my friends here.

"I already did," I said.

He laughed so loud to show his excitement for my future competition.

"Can't wait to watch you nail that show again!" aniya habang tumatakbo suot and kan'yang rugby uniform.

I continued walking to my car while juggling my car key. The sun is striking me so hard as if it's so mad at me. Everything's mad at me, huh? The sun thinks I care.

"Alanis! Are you even listening to me?"

"Winter, I don't think I can face them all yet. I am better, but meeting my family after years of disappearance is a new story."

Pinatunog ko ang sasakyan ko. Students watch my car converted in awe. Exotic cars like mine are not totally rare to see in my school, but there are only a few who have.

Driving cars made me better. This has become part of my coping mechanisms. I drive at full speed, and everything seems being flown away. It felt good. I always feel lighter.

"But it is my fucking wedding, Alanis! A wedding of your two cousins from different sides!"

I groaned while driving. California is really beautiful. People are walking on the sidewalk with their friends not minding the tan skin the sun might give them.

My long hair is moving along with the great gust of wind.

"Winter, I really don't think it's the right time to face them. I haven't yet constructed an explanation and apology speech for them. It would be awkward to just appear in front of them after so many years of inexistence..."

"I will hate you forever if I won't see your ass at my wedding!"

"I better send an ass pic, then, huh?"

"You're such a bitch! I won't attend your wedding, too..."

"I don't mind," I joked to ease the mood I felt when he talked about my wedding.

Wedding, what? I've been distancing myself from my future hubby. He probably has a new fiancee now. To be honest, I don't know much about him. I don't know what's going on with him, even with my family. When I said I wanted to distance myself, I meant it.

Good thing my grandfather is loyal to me. He won't leak my whereabouts.

"I'm such a douchebag to you, Azriel..." I whispered while driving on a curvy road.

There's no support on the other side of the road. The beach was visible and so the sun awoke from hours of being asleep. On the other side was the gigantic mountain.

Sometimes soil erodes here. It's quite dangerous to travel here alone, but it's fun. The last thing you will know, you've been swayed by a big rock all the way to the beach. Buti sana kung diretso sa dagat. No. Down there is rocky.

Natural lights are hitting me because of my full glass wall.
