As I walked out of the building, I pulled out my cell phone. I quickly typed in my passcode and went into my contacts, pulling up the number to one of my best friends. It only took him a few seconds to answer the phone and when he did, I smiled. I've always had a bit of a crush on him, nothing too big or important, it was just a little thing.

"Hey Cait, ha that almost rhymed. To what do I owe this please?" Brendon asked, a smile appearing on my face.

"Hi B, I was actually calling to see if you wanted to meet up for some ice cream? I'm making my way towards Carvel now so..." I trailed off.

"Oh yeah, I'll be there in a couple minutes. Didn't you have to spend the weekend with your mom though?" Brendon asked.

"Ugh, I'll tell you about it when you get here. I'll see you in a few minutes." I said.

"Yeah, yeah. See you later gator." Brendon said.

"In a while crocodile." I smiled, then hanging up the phone. That last bit was something that we've done for years. I've grown up with him since we were in third grade and back then, that was a semi popular saying and well, it's stuck with us.

I was sitting at a booth in the back of the ice cream parlor, trying to avoid putting my hands on the sticky part of the table, when I heard the bell go off. I looked up and watched as Brendon looked around for me. He was honestly such a cute guy. He had soft dark hair that matched his eyes and a jaw line that could cut through ice. He wasn't the most muscular guy but damn, he was hot.

When Brendon saw me he smiled widely and started to walk over towards me. He slide into the booth, sending me one of his famous smirks that had many girls falling at his feet. "So Cait, care to share what happened with your mom?" He asked.

I sighed and leaned back. "She's just so... ugh! I don't know. I really don't like her, Brendon. It's not fair. She knows that I love singing. She knows that singing is my life yet she doesn't want that. She doesn't want me to be happy. You remember what she said when I told her I was auditioning for the X Factor, she said that I had no chance at winning. It's just not fair. I wish I had your mom or even Nancy, why can't my dad marry Nancy." I huffed, referring to my father's girlfriend.

"I know Caitlin, I know. And if it helps, my mom conceders you a daughter and my sister conceders you a sister. And who knows, Nancy and Brian have been dating for a couple years now, maybe they'll get married." Brendon shrugged.

"I hope so. She supports me with everything I do. When I told her that I wasn't planning on returning to college do you know what she said to me? She told me that I better buy her something nice when I get rich and famous. It was a joke obviously, but she still supports me." I said, shaking my head.

"Nancy's a great women, she'd make a wonderful mom to you." Brendon said.

"I know... anyway, let's not talk about this. I don't want to be upset anymore. Why don't we talk about my auditioning song. I still haven't picked and you promised you'd help." I said.

Brendon laughed loudly and nodded his head. "I was thinking about that actually. You know how you're practically obsessed with Selena Gomez right now? Why don't you sing Who Says?" Brendon said.

I nodded my head, thinking of how I could work the song. My vocal range was higher than that song, though I could sing the song easily. I wanted to wow the judges with a song that would show them my vocal range. I sighed once again, not knowing what to do. The song Brendon suggested was a good song, it was one of my favorites, but I just didn't want to do something that didn't show of my voice.

"I don't know B, I want a song that really shows my voice. I don't want to do something that doesn't... I don't know, wow them." I said.

"Yeah, yeah. I know what you mean. That's like me with my old football couch. Why don't you do... oh I got it! My Heart Will Go On! That's a song that will wow them and you can sing that song perfectly, you won the tenth grade talent show with it." Brendon said.

"True, though that was back in two thousand nine. Do you think I should do that song? I would do some arrangements..." I trailed off, thinking of what I could do with the song.

"Yeah, totally. You'll kill it with that song."
