The festival ended and everyone was helping clean up so we could all go home. I was helping Julieta pack the ingredients so we could later take them back to the house and Camilo was helping with taking down the posters.
Me and Camilo are dating now.
I was busy with what I was doing but I could still feel a pair of eyes staring at me. I look over my shoulder to see Camilo staring at me and when he meets my gaze, his eyes widen and he turns back to what he was doing. I smirk and go up to him.
"Is my Camilo being shy?" I say in a babyish tone just to annoy him, while pinching his cheek.
He frowns, "just go and finish what you have to do."
I laugh, "are you annoyed?"
"Yes."
"Then I have achieved my goal." I smirk and go back to what I was doing.
We are all done and ready to leave. I'm going to stay for one more night at the Madrigal home because Mirabel, Dolores, Luisa, and Isabela wanted to have a sleepover tonight. And of course I accepted.
I am carrying a big box full of ingredients with Camilo walking beside me.
"Are you sure you don't need help? That looks heavy," he says, looking at the box.
I shake my head, "it's not as heavy as it looks."
He shrugs, "if you say so."
We walk then in awkward silence, not knowing what else to say.
I finally broke the silence.
"How do you think your mom will react by...you know, us dating?" I ask.
He laughs softly, "I think you already know the answer."
I nod, "yeah, it seems like she really approves our relationship."
"By the way, you have never told me about your life back in your world," he says after a moment.
"You're curious about...my life before I came here?" I ask.
He nods.
"Well, long story short—and I think you have probably heard this before—my goal was to always be perfect at everything. Honestly, it was my decision to do things that way," I chuckle. "Funny, isn't it? Even my parents told me to take a break, but I just...I don't know."
After a long pause I continue.
"I thought, well if I'm not the best at everything I do, then what am I to myself?"
Camilo nods, "I get where you're coming from, I have problems with figuring out things about myself. I always think, how can people know me when I don't even know myself?"
I look at him, "I guess we both have questions that we will never find the answer to."
He shrugs, "I don't know, maybe we will. We just have to wait for the right time to come."
I nod, "I can't believe I told you this. You ask about my life and I give you a completely different answer."
"No, this actually made me know you better," he smiles and I smile back.
We finally reach the house. I set everything on the kitchen counter. And Casita takes everything back to where it needs to be. I'm still thinking about the conversation me and Camilo had. It's weird that I have struggled to tell other people about my struggles in life but with Camilo...it is so easy to talk to him. I guess that happens when someone means this much to you.
"Boo!"
"AHHH! WHAT THE FU-" I turn around immediately and see Mirabel.
She tilts her head in confusion, "huh?"
"Nothing—uh, do you need something?" I say.
"Oh yeah! I came here to get some snacks for the sleepover!" She says excitedly.
'Right, the sleepover'
"Oh! Okay, in which room are we going to sleep in?" I ask.
"Isabella's room." (Because, according to myself, it's the biggest room 🏃♀️)
"Oh okay, I will go back to my house to get my things and I will come back," I say as I walk back to the front door.
"Okay!"
———
"Think fast!"
I look to the side and get smashed in the face by a pillow.
I grab it from my face and throw it at Isabela while laughing, "what was that for?"
Then they all make a circle around me.
"Okay! We want to hear everything!" Dolores says.
"About what?" I ask.
"About you and Camilo, of course!" Mirabel says.
"Yeah! I saw you two dancing, you would make such a good couple!" Luisa says.
At that, I blush.
They all gasp.
"Are you saying that-?" Mirabel starts.
"NO!- I- I mean—maybe?" I say.
"Wow! Congrats!" Isabela says.
"Yeah! I'm happy for you two!" Louisa says.
I smile, "thank you."
Dolores doesn't look a bit bothered by it. Maybe it's because she obviously knew about it before they did.
"But enough about me. How are your wedding preparations going Dolores?" I ask.
"Oh! I totally forgot! Isn't your wedding in a couple of weeks?" Mirabel asks.
Dolores nods, "yep, the preparations are going okay. I actually wanted to ask you all if you could help me go look for a dress."
We all gasp.
"Of course! It's going to be so much fun!" I say.
And they all nod.
Louisa yawns, "we should probably get some sleep. We have to finish cleaning up tomorrow from the festival."
We all agree and go towards our beds that Casita brought to us.
"Good night everyone!" Isabela says.
"Good night!" We all say.
The lights turn off and we all go to sleep.
———
I can't sleep.
I have been trying all night but I can't seem to fall asleep. It's weird since I was walking so much around the festival.
I see something pop out of the ground from Isabela's room.
'It looks like...a flower'
(Yes...again 🧍♀️)
"Isa," I whisper. Maybe she just did it by accident.
I look over at her but she looks sound asleep.
I get up and make my way to the flower.
'I will just pluck it off the ground and ask Isabela about it tomorrow'
But as soon as I touch it a light flashes.
Yes, I am ending the chapter here. 😀
Hey everyone! Here is chapter twenty one! 😌
I hope you enjoyed it. 😆
