Chapter Twenty-Feelings

The festival has officially started.

There are tents and games all over the town; candles everywhere to light up the town when it becomes night; and stands of delicious food.

I couldn't wait to see the faces of everyone when they see the posters that the kids made. This festival going to be so much fun!

"Are you really that excited?" Camilo asks.

It's about 3 Pm and we are walking to the town because we are going to help on food stand while Julieta is out for a break. And then we get the rest of the day to enjoy at the festival.

I look at him, "is it that obvious?"

"Well, yeah, you haven't stopped smiling since this morning."

I laugh, "because I am very excited for today. It's going to be so much fun!"

He gave me a nervous look.

I look at him worried, "hey, are you okay?"

I sighs and smiles, "yeah! Yeah, um, it's nothing, I'm just nervous because of something that I'm going to do."

"What is it that you're so nervous about?"

"Uh- oh! Look! It's Tia!"

I follow his gaze and see Tia Julieta walking towards us. I give her a small wave and she returns it.

"Are you two ready?" She asks when she gets closer.

I nod, "how much food are we cooking?"

She smiles, "a lot, but there were a lot of volunteers that are going to help."

"Aaand...we're done!" I say, looking proudly at the table full of different types of dishes. It has been 2 hours and we had just put the last plate down, that means we are done with our work and we could go and enjoy the festival.

"All of you worked really hard," Julieta says, walking back from her break. "You can go and enjoy the festival now."

I took off the apron that I was wearing, Camilo did the same.

"What do you want to do now?" Camilo asks after we are done.

"Let's go look at the tents to see what they have!" I say.

I'm about to walk off, but then I feel Camilo grab my hand. "It will be better if I don't let you run off like that," he smirks.

My cheeks turn red so I look away, "okay..."

We go towards a tent where there is lady surrounded by flowers.

"Hello, are you two a couple?" She asks.

I turn red, "WHAT?! OH NO, HE'S JUST A FRIE-"

"Yes we are," Camilo cuts off.

I turn to him with wide eyes, but he just ignores my gaze.

"Oh! Then would you like a flower for your partner?" She asks Camilo.

He nods. She takes a daisy and hands it to him.

"Thank you," he says.

"You're welcome, enjoy your time at the festival!" She smiles.

He hands me the daisy, I smile at take it.

"You didn't have to say that to have an excuse for giving me a flower," I grin.

"But I wanted to say it because I-" he pauses, "I...want to go eat something."

I raise an eyebrow but he just drags me to the table full of food that we prepared earlier.

For the whole day, Camilo has been acting weird but I tried to ignore it and enjoy the festival. It was 8 PM which meant that the band was about to play. I especially picked some of the songs that they were going to play because I really liked them when I first watched Encanto.

"Let's go to the stage Camilo! I want to see how they play!" I say excitedly as I try to make him walk faster.

The band starts playing, "Colombia, Mi Encanto".

"I love this song!" I say excitedly.

"Really? I have never heard it before," Camilo gives me a confused look.

Some of the people are making a circle and couples are dancing inside of it. I smile at Camilo, "would you like to dance with me?"

He raises an eyebrow, "I was going to ask that."

"Let's go!"

We enter the circle and start dancing until the song ends.

The band switches the song to "Dos Oruguitas".

I gasp, "I love this song too!"

"How Can you like so many songs that I don't even know?" He asks.

"Oh shush, I want to hear it."

We get out of the circle and just watch the band play. They played the song very nicely and beautifully. The music made a very comfortable mood around us.

Camilo looks at me, "c-can I tell you something?"

I turn to him, "sure."

"I have been wanting to tell you this for a long time," he starts, "but I could never find the right time...however, I think right now it's a good time to tell you that I-

I love you."

I feel my face start to feel hot and butterflies are on my stomach. I am at loss of words.

"I-" I pause. Is it okay to tell him? I still don't know if I will stay in this world forever. But...I don't want to leave without at least telling him how I feel.

"I love you too."

We have finally got to the part! 😭 I have been thinking about ending this book soon, but this is not the end. To be honest, I don't even know how I'm going to finish it, but I will do the best that I can. 😀
