I stopped outside the front doors and wiped the moisture that was forming around my eyes. The wind was strong outside blowing my hair around and lifting my dress slightly. I stood under the protection of a building because it had started to rain not to long ago slightly wetting my exposed skin. I stepped out into the parking lot and let the rain start to totally soaked me. I took a deep breath and filled my lungs with the fresh air. It smelled clean, the smell that only rain could produce, and it calmed me right down.
I shouldn't have been worked up in the first place. I know my dad. Overbearing, overprotective, and overwhelming. He may seem like an asshole in there to everyone who saw it go down but to me it was the norm seeing as he pulls the same stunt when I need to go to the store to get tampons. I know he does it out of love, why else was he the only person who ever wanted to adopt me? I know he's just worried Ronnie will hurt me and I'll try to off myself again. I can't be mad at him for worrying even though he just said I couldn't be married.
"Hey." I heard his voice before I felt hands pull me out of the rain.
"Hi."
Ronnie turned me around to face him, "are you alright?" I just nodded at him and he pulled me into a hug. "I know he means well, but to be totally honest, I want to punch his teeth out."
I giggled, "welcome to my world. Did you talk to him?"
We pulled from the hug, "no but my dad did. I think it's all good if you want to go back inside. Or we can just go home if you want." I took his hand and started to walk inside. I heard him mumble something but couldn't make out the words.
When we rounded the corner our dads were talking again until they saw us coming. My dad stood up and I let go of Ronnie's hand and ran into my dad's open arms. He pulled me in tight with one arm around my back and one cradling my head, "I'm so sorry my baby girl."
I pulled away to look at him and saw tears rolling down his face, "oh no no." I wiped them away, "it's alright. I get it."
He sighed, "when did you get so grown up?"
I smiled, "I learned from the best." He smiled at me. His blue eyes were tired. His skin soft and started to wrinkle. His hair now white. I know it was me who aged him so fast. He always worried.
"So, when's the wedding?" He asked and I smiled and pulled him into another hug.
A/N sorry for it being rather short but I think that's a good place to end this chapter :)
