Chapter 17.5 (Mini Chapter) Spade's Suspicion

Marina: Ugh, I swear that man picked the worst place to make a base...It's not even finished either! I bet I could establish a much finer purpose of a base then he is right now. Pearlie, we should head to our rooms

Pearl: If Spade even THINKS about breaking anything that isn't his, he better throw a couple of bands or he's gonna feel this steel...

Spitting fire even when she's angry, Pearl and Marina both walked up stairs to the master bedroom where they kept most of their valuables hidden from the world. Marina quickly locked the door behind her in case Spade tried to talk to them during his fit of anger. Speaking of Spade, what is his deal anyway? Let's go check on him.

Spade POV

*Slam!*

Spade: I told you! They have been doing their own thing ever since I became head in command Craig! 

Spade slammed his fist onto a dresser he was using to store his clothing. The angry old inkling was down stairs of the mansion in his own quarters having a conversation with his good friend, Cap'n Cuttlefish. He rubbed his forehead as he was now listening to Craig's response. 

Cap'n Cuttlefish: Oh dear, is that such a problem? They are young and full of energy Spade! Something me and you don't have anymore

Spade: You mean what you don't have? Craig I'm tired of being seen as the enemy here. Pearl treats me like I'm a little b*tch!

Cap'n Cuttlefish: Like you are right now? Hohoho! 

Spade: Grrr...

His veins were boiling with his blood. 

Spade: Listen, did you see the news this morning about the debris and the giant Octo who was almost found dead? 

The Cap'n adjusted his seat in his bed.

Cap'n Cuttlefish: Why yes of course! Do you happen to know what caused it?

Spade: What?? YES! It was the Squidbeak Craig! The amount of damage they caused was unacceptable

Cap'n Cuttlefish: Really? Has it ever dawned on you that the destruction was caused by whatever that Octo was? To me it sounded like one of them Octo weapons brought back to life

Spade: That is definitely a factor but think about! It was five against one! The scene only showed on TV was the Octo brutally hurt, almost DEAD

Craig sighed.

Craig: Isn't that the point? Spade, the Octos were supposed to be finished six years ago

Spade: I thought the same thing about the great turf war. Fighting alongside you was an honor, but I swear it has made you more stupid then ever...

The Cap'n laughed to himself over the phone.

Cap'n Cuttlefish: Well now don't be so brash! I may be green around the gills right now, but I assure you I have better strategies then the head strong noggin of yours, hoho!

Spade: You were always one to think ahead. I for once also think just as much! Why don't you--

Cap'n Cuttlefish: Spade, why did you call me? To complain? Be honest with me

Spade stood there with the phone near his ear for a second before speaking. He then said;

Spade: Look, all I'm saying is the way the Squidbeak handle things are really going to put others at risk. I'm also worried the government is going to get involved

Cap'n Cuttlefish: I mean Liz was always head strong just like you, heh. Me boy agent 4 can also be a loose cannon when he wants to be, but what's wrong with the others?

Spade: Craig that's not the point! The point is they need to be trained to not be so violent! We're trying to defend Inkopolis, not destroy it--

Cap'n Cuttlefish: I'm going to have to stop you there Spade. My agents will NOT be trained in any other way then what they were shown by me or my granddaughters. If you think the way they handle missions is too harsh, then try to discuss things with them. I am sorry but I must get some sleep now if I am ever going to heal. Don't worry, I'll take your spot back soon

*Click! Beep...Beep...Beep*

He hung up. Spade slowly lowered the phone from his face and clenched his left fist.

Spade: ...I'll show you Craig. I'll show you how to lead a responsible and powerful army... 

He set the phone down and picked back up a book he was reading. It was a history book. The page he was on was discussing the hidden race that lived deep in the canyons of Octo Canyon...
