🏵️Chapter 46🏵️: The Confrontation(2)

Start from the beginning

"Here's your meal, princess". Mary said as she dropped a full plate of pasta and chicken sauce on the  table with a whole bottle of wine.No sooner had she dropped the plate, did I start devouring it like the hungry lion that I was.

She continued to look at me as I devoured it. After taking three full forks of pasta, I asked Mary with a full mouth, "Where's Nanny?"

"Slow down, your highness. I don't want you to choke on it". She said jokingly and I smiled before continuing.

"Prince Green ordered her to go back to her hometown to treat her artritis which was getting more and more serious. So she's back in her hometown now".  Mary replied me.

"Oh. I didn't hear anything about her artritis. I hope it's getting better". I asked, truly concerned for her.

"She should be. She called me last week to see if I was doing my job well and from her voice I could tell she was getting better. She asked for you, though. She said she was constantly seeing you in her dream and wanted to know if you're alright" Mary replied.

" Oh, about that. Something happened so I lost my phone. I had to get a new one" I replied her, trying my best not to let the events in Dubai flash through my head.

Just then, Kalia walked into the dinning hall. It took every muscle in my body not to stand up and avoid her. I continued eating in silence and tried my best not to make eye contact with her for fear I might break down.

How do I even tell her? How do I tell her that, her sister followed me to Dubai but we parted ways there, I came back home while she went to heaven. How do I even face her? How do I tell her she's was killed while trying to protect me?
As Kalia moved closer to me, my body began shaking uncontrollably. I could feel the blood draining from my body. I suddenly felt cold as I could see the flashes.

The bloody metallic ball.

Ciara shaking badly like she was having a seizure.

I don't even know where she is now because I didn't have the chance to bury her. The tears started threatening more aggressively than ever, but I fought with it as I continued my struggle to eat my food.

"Princess, I'm so glad you're back" I heard her say with all excitement. I couldn't look up, I just nodded aggressively and used the food to shut myself up. A tear escaped my eye and fell into the pasta but I continued to fight it off.

"I hope you had a nice trip to Dubai. I hope my sister didn't give you any trouble" she said more enthusiastically than ever. I kept silent and kept struggling with my shaking body which became worse after Kalia's last statement.

Just then, I heard Lucas voice say, "Your highness, I've made the enquires you ordered me to make on your friend Tina".

I nodded, still not looking up, I signalled Mary and Kalia to leave, as the tears kept dripping into my food. I heard their footsteps walk away, before telling Lucas, "Do give me ten minutes".

I walked out of the dinning room to the middle of the stairs where there is hardly anybody, sat on the stairs and cried into my laps.

If Ciara's hadn't met me in her life, she wouldn't have died such a tragic death. Her life was cut short because of me. No one to do my make up for me any more. No one to be brutally honest with me anymore.

I cried and cried and with my tear filled eyes, I looked at the time on my wrist watch, ten minutes had passed, so I cleaned my tears, raised my head high and walked to the dinning room, feigning the confidence I knew I didn't have.

There, Lucas was waiting for me. I had asked him in pain back then, to make research on Tina for me because I would never believe that picture was real. Someone must be setting them up.
