In love with the sick boy you met at the hospital - Felix

The doctors didn't know if he would get better, or if he would even survive, and that terrified you because you had no idea how long he had left. Still, he was as bright as day whenever with you or your brother. You admired his strength to stay positive when the odds weren't in his favor. For another 4 months, you would continue to grow closer with him, and quietly become more attached to who he was.

"Is it lonely now that Hajun has been discharged for a while?" You asked, swinging your legs from the chair beside Felix's bed. He was sitting up, leaning against the back of the headboard.

"A little, but I'm glad the treatment has helped him a lot. He's stronger now, isn't he?"

"Yep, he's doing a lot better. I was told to tell you he misses you, and would come with me the next time I visit."

"Tell him I can't wait to see him again," he smiled.

"Of course," you laughed softly. "Hey, what would you do first if you got discharged too?"

The question made made Felix think for a few seconds.

"I'd go tell me parents the good news. They've been worried about me ever since I was admitted. When the day where I'm free to leave comes, I'll go see them first so we can have fun outside," he said with certainty.

You nodded at his thoughtful answer. Suddenly, a thought crossed your mind that made you hesitate. Now that you think about it, he's never talked about his love life. Maybe because it was too personal to share with you, but it made you wonder if he was dating someone. The possibility made you a little down.

"Felix..." You stared at your hands rather than meet his eyes. "Are you in a relationship?"

There was silence for a moment, as if both of you had held your breaths. Noticing his quietness, you looked up and saw the surprise on his face, but then it was replaced with a grin.

"Isn't that an interesting question? Well to be honest with you, yes, I am."

The words stung your heart. Your whole body felt frozen and heavy, like it was sinking down to the darkest depths of the ocean floor.

"Wait... You are?"

Why did you think you had a chance? Of course he had a lover, how could someone this perfect not have one? Whoever it was must've been really special to be with him. Your smile immediately faded along with your energy.

"Mhm, I've been with them for a while now," he nodded, confirming it for a second time.

"Oh, that's great! I didn't know that so I was surprised," you faked a laugh.

Suddenly, you felt guilty for liking him when there was already a person he had in mind. Was paying him all these visits too much? It wasn't like you were his girlfriend...

"Y/n, can I be honest with you?"

Felix's expression dimmed and your eyes widened.

For the first time ever since you've met the boy, he was crying.

His lips quivered, no longer holding the same beautiful smile you adored. One after the other, tears began rolling down his freckled cheeks. You were speechless. His quiet sobs filled the room, and shakily, he spoke.

"I'm s-scared..."

Your world felt like it was falling apart. You thought him not being able to love you back was painful, but seeing him this distressed absolutely shattered your heart.

"Scared of what?" Your voice grew soft.

Felix's hands tangled in his hair, pulling at it as his ragged breaths were all he could muster.
