Just like that, a few days had passed before the third email from the combat course's third examination schedule was received in Yu Yan's terminal.

Yet, he only took a glance before getting preoccupied with something else.

Or rather, with a lack of it.

On a normal day at lunchtime, Yu Yan grabbed his reading glasses and walked out with his tablet. Just before he took a step out, he habitually dodged back then paused. He looked down at the clean empty ground.

Strange, he thought as he put down his tablet in search of missing ambushers.

There would usually he someone jumping him from the outside of his room to the canteen. Right about now, at least a couple bodies would have been littering the floor. Were the crew finally tired of playing that game?

Yu Yan shrugged. It wasn't really a loss to him. He began reading again as he walked through the hallways.

Strange, he thought again as he paused. Why weren't there rumbling explosions? Now that he thought back, the ship seemed awfully peaceful recently.

Yu Yan shrugged. The crew must have done something bad and annoyed the Captain enough to ground them from playing with their toys.

Dad has it hard as usual.

Yu Yan continued walking and soon came near to the entrance of the spacious canteen. Just to be sure, he checked his terminal's clock to make sure it was indeed lunch time.

Then, the automatic doors opened.

Yu Yan unconsciously frowned at the uncharacteristically quiet canteen before he looked up from his terminal. Yu Yan lagged for a moment.

『 Xiao Ba, did the ship get hijacked again and you didn't tell me? 』

『 Negative, Master. 』

『 Then, are these not android versions of the crew obediently being brainwashed through their terminals? 』

『 No, Master 』

Xiao Ba thought about it and decided to add Xiao Ba's observations.

『 They're Alhoshian starsea bandits, Master. They're all browsing the trending posts in various starnet sites. Most noticeably, the forums. 』

Xiao Ba felt delighted at having answered something that wasn't prompted or asked of Xiao Ba. Xiao Ba felt a bit more helpful, and thus a little proud at Xiao Ba's small achievements.

Yu Yan noticed and decided to acknowledge Xiao Ba's emotional evolution for positive reinforcement. Xiao Ba, in his opinion, can be a little more outspoken.

He searched for that small foreign feeling in his mind and found a small round glowing fluff in the recesses of his mind, flashing nicely. He only imagined giving Xiao Ba a small pat. Suddenly, he really did semi-materialize a hand-like invisible force in his mind, but was unable to control its finer details, so the original gentle pat became a hard spank on the head.

It almost felt like getting hit on the head when scolded by one's mother. However, this child had been very behaved and was completely wronged.

Xiao Ba: Σ(°△°|||)︴

Yu Yan: ...My bad.

It was the first time he noticed that the system prototypes were very much unprotected to spiritually adept beings like him. Certainly, this demands another hundred page proposal through the feedback channel...

Yu Yan thought as he unconsciously squeezed and pinched and rolled the soft fluff called Xiao Ba in his mind like a stress ball.

Xiao Ba: ..・ヾ(。><)シ
