First Time For Everything

My first day was anything from enjoyable. It started with a loud blaring noise from Seirra's room witch made Aussie freak out. In other words, none of us were happy with anyone at breakfast which consisted of bitter grey slop. I was put in a group with two others, but today roughly all sevendy of us air nomads stayed together. I don't know the two people in my group and I didn't reckognize our teachers name, Mr.Coba. We were all admitingly out of practice and now my muscles feel strained and my brain throbs. Luckily, Vice gives us an extra hour and a half break at 1:30.
Its 1:48 now which gives us more then enough time to eat and possibly nap. Zeris and all of the Water elementals are at the underground lake, a bright blue thing meters down from where I stand. I wouldn't be able to bear being stuffed underground with no wind to carry me. I don't know when Willow breaks and I have less then no intention to find Seirra. Its shame for me, Zeris has my copy of 'Our Histories History' Decade old pages with a frail spine. Stories of the original four elemental women. As far as my knowledge goes there's only four copies let from the fire that burnt down the old Emerald that was on top of the mountain.
"Mind if i join you?" A voice asks. I look up from where I sit on a flat rock. I recognize the boy from earlier, he's a first year air nomad–and the third member of my group. I nod and a smile pulls at the corners of his mouth. I try not to stare at him too much, but he gives off a unique vibe when he sits. Like he's truely at peace. His eyes lock with mine for a split second. They're almost transparent blue with specks of glistening gold. I run my hands through my hair to pull my own eyes away. His hair is so blonde its almost white and being a fellow platinum blonde I know its not from a bottle.
"I'm Killijan, by the way" He mumbles politely.
"Roan" I reply, the letters rolling of my tongue.
"Its weird" I begin, catching his attention.
"That'd we'd be paired together" I finish.
"Why's that weird?"
"Cause they never mix the different yeared students"
He shrugs.
"Maybe you need someone who's unexperienced so we'll be at the same level when we learn" He proposes.
"I'm gonna leave it to you to realize how wrong you are" I smirk, rolling a ball of wind delicately off of my fingers. He chuckle once it poofs off if his face and I know we will be great friends.

"Crap! Hurry Ro!" He hisses with a giggle. I skid on the smooth marble floor and pummel into him. We tumble nto our backs with a thud. We both burst into hysterics and the sound of yelling voices drones out ours.

"Shhhhh" Killijan hushes, planting a finger over my mouth. We're in the dining hall, which has not been opened for student use. There are no tables crafted of rock or glass chandliers yet, just an overly smooth floor and our sock-feet. I realize what he means and wriggle closer to him, sheilded by a red slik curtain. It should be awkward, me pushed against his chest and us laying down under a curtain but for some unknown reason its not. A slight chuckle escapes my mouth, echoing off of he curved white walls. I hear footsteps and yelling and hope we dont get caught. I squeeze my eyes shut tight. I feel like I'm back in Toronto wih my best friends, doing stupid stuff that we get in trouble for. Killijan hiccups and then giggles.

"Shut up!" I whisper and put a hand over his mouth. My ears are fixed on the heavy footsteps that eventually fade. I feel Killijan's chest fall in a breathe of relief. I laugh slightly in amusement, rolling off..
"That was close" He whispers, yanking the curtain off of us. Cold air greats my lungs.
"You don't even know, last year I almost got suspended for being in here" I explain, putting my hands on my stomach and staring at the delicately painted ceiling.
"Really?" He asks with an amused smirk.
"But I did also did break a hole in the wall while in was riding that StarGlider..." I contemplate. I get a laugh from him which plants a smile on my lips.
"Whoa, what's happening!"
The sky darkens leaving us in a dim blackness.
"Relax, the windows are fake, they turn them off to recharge every six hours" I explain in a rush. I mentally retrieve the times off when they turn them off from deep in my brain.
Let'ssee...8...12345, waitwhat? Focus! Ahhhdon'tyellatme! Okay okay, startingat 8 its...9 10 11 12 13 whoopsImean 1...2 Okaysoitmustbe 2:00 rightnow. Ohgodwhyishelooking at melikethat? OhI'mstaringcrap!
"What do we do?" He asks, noticeably calmer. I reach to the bands around my wrist and weave air around my silver band. As the air moves faster a bright light emits from the silver. I slow and then pull my hand away. I lift my now glowing wrist band. Killijan's face is that of shock and amazement.
"They're not justfor recognizing years and classes you know" I pointy out with a hint of smugness. He glances down at his own.
"It takes practice" I point out. He nods and let's me lead him toward the open doorway. My steps are stiff as I try not to slip.

"That was...kinda crazy" He chuckles.
"Completely" I correct, walking through the hallway. The marble walls are traced with lines of red and purple. I adjust my bands on my wrist to make them comfortable–a difficult task as they're both over an inch in width. I walk with confident in my step. Killijan scurries after me. I hum a song me and Willow listened to on end on the drive up here.
"How old are you?" I ask curiously. He swivles and walks backwards to face me, his hands shoved in his pockets.
"19"
I tilt my head slightly.
"How old are you?" He wonders.
"I'm almost 17"
He bites his lip and I can tell he's in thought.

He must've passed last years test...the one Ember failed..

"Here, my dorms this way" I inform, bolting a corner. I rack my brain wondering if I let Aussie out this morning.

I fumble with the rock around my neck and push open the door. Aussie immediately leaps on me with a whimper.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" I yelp, throwing him into the hall. I slam the door and lead the anxious winged dog toward a window at the end of the tunnel the next set I dorms over. Killijan puzzledly follows. I practically push Aussie out if it. I hear a gasp from Killijan and I almost burst out laughing when Aussie swoops upward, unfurling his wings to their whole wingspan. He quickly goes to the grass at the base of the mountain and does his business. The wind rushes in from the open window, calling for me. I hurl myself out without hesitation. I'm slow to collect myself, thrusting out my hands and catching a breeze. I weave the wind around me and push myself up with a dramatic swoop.
"What the hell are you doing!" I hear Killijan's voice scream.
"Being awesome" I respond sarcastically.
"You'll learn soon enough little uneducated RavenPuff"
"What does that even mean!"
"Poor little HuffleClaw" I shake my head exaggeratedly. I feel my strength wavering and glide to the window. I had to grab a loose rock and pull myself in. I feel Killijan's hands on my shoulder and waist, grateful for the help.
"What-wha-wh"
"We learned it last year, and wow I'm exhausted. They should really let us practice over break" I pant.
"But-you can-fly?"
"Yes, SlytherDoor, all second year air students can fly"
He ignores the names because the confused look on his face tells me all I need to know.
"Inside joke inside joke" I explain briefly, peering out the window again. The wind batters against my face.
"Aus-sie!" I struggle. He flings toward me, almost missing the gap in the stone. He hurls himself through and lands–shivering in my arms.
"This is Aussie–Aussie Killijan" I inform. The dog leaps forward and sniffs rapidly at his feet and legs. Killijan raises his eyebrows.
"Uhhhh?" He stammers. A chuckle escapes my mouth.
