"Mr. Lupin," Professor McGonagall greeted, her eyes focused on the piece of parchment in front of her. She had called him for an emergency meeting once his classes finished, and Remus could only guess what it was about. "Take a seat."

"Is everything okay, Professor?"

"I was about to ask you the same thing." The woman smiled, letting the parchment on the desk. "How has your week been, Remus?"

"Good." He responded, his mind running over the events of the last few days.

Lily was unable to sleep alone after almost being murdered by the person she had to collaborate with in class. She didn't bare to look at him in any of their shared lessons, sitting as far away from his as possible and holding her breath every time he did as much as move.

James and Sirius kept their mouths shut, knowing of their friend's increased irritability and concern for Callisto. The girl hadn't come to class or any of the meals for the past three days and Regulus with Narcissa were like vicious guard dogs when it came to their friend. The only thing Remus could do to keep his worry at bay was look at the map for hours, his eyes fixed on Callisto's tag.

The only person that seemed completely fine was Peter. In fact, he wasn't just fine; he was flying with the wings of love, not knowing that he was like Icarus. Peter was flying too close to the sun, but he didn't know yet. Remus had seen him leaving the castle on the map many times over the last week, but he hadn't worried too much. He could only guess how suffocated Peter felt with all of them sulking around.

"You have never visited the third floor before." McGonagall stated, a hint of mom-like sympathy in her voice. "What changed?"

"They were in trouble." Remus calmly answered. "Lily, James and Sirius."

"What kind of trouble?"

"The Carrows and Avery." Remus responded, not even bothering to cover up the situation. They weren't going to get expelled and he knew that, so there was no point in lying to the woman. "They fought and Callisto and I went to help them. Avery shot the killing curse at Lily."

The woman's eyes widened, her complexion paling significantly. She tried to keep her composure, knowing that if she felt her heart drop just by hearing it, Remus had it much worse. "And the others?"

"Carrow tried to crucio me." Remus said in a small voice, his eyes filling with guilt. "Callisto jumped in front of me."

"Remus, have a biscuit." The professor stated, pushing a plate filled with chocolate cookies towards him. Remus hesitantly took one from the plate, mostly not to offend the woman. He had just told her that Callisto had been hit with an unforgivable curse just to protect him and she had offered him a cookie? If anyone deserved the treat, it certainly wasn't him.
