Song:
Dangerous (Michael Jackson)

"It will be fourteen galleons." The employee of the bookshop said, putting Callisto's books in a bag. Vera took out her wallet to pay the man, when Callisto placed the money on the counter and took the bag, heading out of the shop. Vera gnawed on her cheek, and followed the blonde out of the shop, her eyes fixed on the ground. She had been staying with them for two days and nothing had changed. Time was running out; they had five days to try and restore the bridges that were knocked down after all these years of minimal contact. At night, the woman had barely been able to close her eyes, knowing well enough that if things continued this way her daughter would be lost forever. Thomas said that they should keep trying and that a lot of things can change in five days, but it was no secret that he was the optimistic out of the two.

"You should have let me pay, Callisto." She taunted, managing a smile.

"I don't feel comfortable with other people paying for everything." She responded, handing one of the bags to Vera. "It's not personal."

"I see." Vera accepted skeptically. "Is that why you began selling potions?"

"That and the fact that I enjoy it."

"I'm sorry you had to give it up, but that boy got hurt Callisto." Her mother stated, making Callisto clench her jaw in anger. "It's serious."

"This boy drugged a girl and did unspeakable things to her when they found them. I don't regret a single thing other than the fact that I got caught." Callisto retorted, her eyes glinting dangerously. Vera sighed but said nothing. What could she say to her daughter that merely helped that girl out? Yes, she did hurt that student but even she admitted that he deserved that and much more. As her mother, she should scold her for harming other people and for selling potions to students when it was prohibited, but as a person, she just wanted to congratulate her and take her out for ice cream. "Can we head back to the mansion now?"

"Are you sure you've bought everything you need?" Callisto nodded and Vera took her hand, apparated them both from Diagon Alley back to their house.

Callisto landed roughly, coughing violently as she supported herself on the wall. Apparition was the quickest means of transport that existed but that didn't mean that it was the most pleasant. Actually, she'd much rather only use the bus or a car instead of ever apparating again. The dizziness started to subside and she straightened her posture, lifting her bags inside the house.

Thomas' head snapped up from the pasta he was preparing when he heard the door opening.

"We're home!" Vera shouted, closing the door behind her. Thomas came out of the kitchen, wiping his hands on the yellow apron and kissed his wife's cheek, reluctantly hugging Callisto. The girl took advantage of the fact that she was holding the bags and stood still, trying to fight the urge to roll her eyes.
