Chapter 5: Perry

Clark and Perry White enter the Talon and Liana sees Clark and says, "Clark, is everything alright? Peter waited for you until after 10 o'clock last night." Clark says, "Uh, it's a long story." Perry says, "Hi. Perry White. I'd like a triple cappuccino and a couple of those glazed crullers and an interview with Smallville's very own cover girl." Liana sees the magazine that has her 3-year-old self-crying. Liana's a little upset and Clark notices and says to Perry, "What are you doing?" Perry says, "It's called getting the story. Uh, nothing fancy, Miss Lang. Just a simple Q&A. You know, uh, how's little Miss Meteor coping for 14 years after the big bang?" Liana angrily says, "Maybe this is a joke to you, but my parents died that day." Perry says, "And I'm sorry, but that makes you newsworthy." Clark says, "That's it. You're leaving." Perry says, "Wh... you know, either she talks to me now or she faces the cameras in the morning." Liana looks at Clark and says, "Clark, I can't believe you're with this guy." Clark says, "Liana." Liana says, "Maybe you should both leave." Liana then walks away from them. Later, Liana goes to see Lex and he's listening to the ocean on a stereo with his eyes close. Liana goes to tap Lex, but he grabs her wrist and Liana says, "Lex. I'm sorry. I'm interrupting." Lex says, "No, no. It's strange. When I was on the island, I came to hate the roar of the ocean. Since coming back, I find it's the only thing that relaxes me." Liana says, "You must think about what happened every day." Lex says, "And I'm sure you didn't come all this way to discuss that. What did you wanna see me about?" Liana says, "This tabloid television reporter came by the Talon today and he wanted to do an interview with me about the meteor shower." Lex says, "A succinct no comment didn't dissuade him?" Liana says, "Not really, he said he was gonna come back tomorrow this time with a camera crew." Lex says, "And you don't want that." Liana says, "I've spent the last 14 years trying to put that day behind me. And in an instant, he brought it all back. I know it's a lot to ask... but I was hoping that you might be able to do something." Lex says, "I'm surprised you didn't go to Clark with this." Liana crosses her arms and says, "Clark's with him." Lex says, "So you want me to run him out of town?" Liana says, "I want him to stop." Lex says, "He must've been very persistent. What was his name?" Liana says, "Perry White." Lex says, "I'll make sure he never bothers you again." Liana softly smiles and nods.
