Chapter 21

At Debora's residence...

Tap.tap.tap...tap......tap

Baron Henry keep tapping his finger on the table. He was in deep thought while drinking his whisky. He lift up his liquor glass and took a sip of it then refill it afterwards.

Nakakalahati na nito ang bote ng alak ngunit hindi pa rin ito tumitigil kahit na mataas pa ang araw sa labas.

He was contemplating whether to destroy the only evidence that will prove that he had a relationship with lady Iris. He was staring at the pouch in front of him, he hissed in annoyance when he recalled what happened to the ball that night. " That bitch!" he blurted out,  he was about to drink when his butler came running over with an anxious expression.

"B-Baron Debora..." his butler said in a worried tone.

The Baron forcefully shut his eyes.
" What is it this time?" he said getting impatient.

" O-Our big time investor pulled out all of his investments. Nagsisiresign na rin po ang mga ibang manggagawa natin. Ngayon po ay n-nanganganib nang malugi ang negosyo ninyo dahil sa nangyari."

Naginit lalo ang dugo ng baron sa narinig. Nanginginig ang kamay habang pahigpit ng pahigpit nitong hinahawakan ang baso ng alak.

" That bastard!!!" the Baron said flaring up. He drunk all the remaining liquor in one gulp before slamming the glass down to the table. " If thats what they want, I have no choice but to bet on the other side!"

Dumako ang tingin nito sa kinaroroonan ng pouch at agad na hinablot ito. " YOU! ignite some woods in the fire place!"

The butler thinks that lighting up some woods is unnecessary for today's temperature. It won't be benificial to the Baron's health especially he's already drunk too much. He was worried that his master will get heat stroke. " Do you feel cold, Milord? Should I bring a blanket instead?"

" Stupid! Just do what I say!" the Baron ordered.

The butler immediately bowed down and obeyed his orders.

Few minutes later the fireplace was already lit up.

Himinto ang Baron sa tapat nito at binuksan ang hawak-hawak na pouch. Isa-isa nitong nilabas ang mga liham at tinapon sa nagaapoy na mga kahoy. Unti-unting tinutupok nito ang mga sobre habang pinapanood ng Baron na maging abo ang mga ito.

Samantala...

Naghihintay sa labas ng palasyo si Inspektor Macalanda kasama ng mga kawal at iba pang makakatulong sa kanila sa pagiimbestiga.

Maya-maya ay dumating na rin ang prinsipe kasama ang personal knight nito. " Inspektor Macalanda." pagtawag ng prinsipe sa kaniyang atensyon.

Agad na nagbigay galang ang lahat sa mahal na prinsipe. " Your Highness..." sabay-sabay na bigkas ng mga ito at tumungo.

" At ease." the crown prince said.

Agad na lumapit si Inspektor Macalanda sa prinsipe.

" Nakahanda na ba ang lahat?" tanong ng prinsipe.

" Opo, Your Highness. Siya nga po pala, ipinapakilala ko sa inyo...." paglahad ng kamay nito sa kaniyang kanan upang ituro ang direksyon ng isang ginoo.
