The Heartthrob That Can't Walk

Chapter 5

While we’re on the road I notice Mr. Tori, kanina pa siya pa sulyap sulyap kay Shane. Our eyes met on the mirror, ngumiwi siya at halos umirap bago ibalik and tingin sa daan. What the f*ck is going on?!

She buy her ticket and drink, we also buy ours.

“Pwede ba tayong mag palit ng upuan?” Shane ask Fina. My lips parted is she serious?!  Fina shyly shake her head.

“Pero—”

“Don’t force her. Nasa likod lang ako ‘wag kang praning.”

Tumikom siya at naunang pumasok sa loob. Sumunod lang kami sa kaniya. Pinakadulong row ang saamin ni Fina. Sa unahan ako umupo. Tinulungan akong umalis sa wheelchair at lumipat sa upuan. It’s been a while since I enter cinema. Fina sat quietly next to me, we shared the popcorn. My eyes look for Shane. She’s on the left side, isang row ang pagitan namin. I’m wearing my jacket  though I’m not cold cause I’m used to aircon. But Shane doesn’t have any, she’s wearing a shirt and a skirt as far as I remember.

“Okay lang ba sayo ‘to?”

Nilingon ko si Fina, “yeah. I forgot to ask the genre of the movie.”

“Ah…ang totoo niyan kaya ako nag imbita kasi horror. Takot kasi ako sa mga ganito. Takot ka rin ba?”

“Not really, but it still depends.” She smiled at me. Lara is also scared at this kind of movie.

The movie started at wala ganong tao kaya mas malamig. Medyo nakaka kaba pero hindi naman masyadong nakakatakot. Unlike Fina, she sometime hold my arm which made me uncomfortable. I’m trying my best to fvcking understand her.

Muling hinanap ng mata ko si Shane, yakap yakap niya ang bag. Nakita kong nagulat siya ng kaonti dahil sa nakakatakot na tunog mula sa movie, mas lalomg humigpit ang yakap niya. She’s scared too. Kung siya ang nandito sure ako na mas malala pa siya kay Fina. There’s a guy on her left. Silang dalawa lang doon sa row na ‘yon, ngunit may isang upuan sa pagitan nila.

“It’s so cold here…” I heard her, “can I borrow your jacket? If only you’re not cold.”

“Yeah…sure.” I remove my jacket and gave it to her. She thank me before wearing it.

“Ah!” she shouted and hug my arm. But as soon as sge recovered she move herself back to her spot. “sorry…I didn’t mean to.”

“It’s fine…” patience Stanlly she didn’t mean it. Fuck.

My forehead crease when I saw the guy try to lend his jacket to Shane. But she didn’t move and just hug her bag. He tap her shoulder a bit and say something, she shake her head. But he still put his jacket on her shoulder. What the fuck is going on?! Now I can’t focus on the movie!

The movie ended and I don’t understand any of it. Si Fina ay nag kukwento kung saan talaga siya natakot. Pero hindi ako maka-relate kasi wala naman akong naintindihan. She’s the one pushing my wheelchair. I can’t understand myself but I feel irritated. I know Shane is on the back silently walking. When we’re in the car I saw how she throw her body in the front seat. Looking so tired.

“Salamat sa pag sama sakin. Pasensya na sa abala.”

“Go inside now.” Ayokong sabihin pero lamabas pa rin sa bibig ko.

“A-ah… sige salamat sa pag hatid.” Labas siya at isinara ang pinto. She wave at me but I doesn’t have the energy to wave back.

“Shane.” I called her.

“Tulog na.” si Mr. Tori ang sumagot.

Maybe she’s tired, fvck I’m tired too.

“Stanlly, gising na nasa bahay na tayo.”

“Let me have a fvcking sleep.” I groan.

“Oo mamaya  sa kwarto mo. Halika na baba na.” I opened my eyes and starred at her. She help me sit on my wheelchair. I’m useless.

Nang makarating sa kwarto ay tinulungan niya akong humiga. She remove my shoes and socks before covering me with a comforter.

“Tawagin mo nalang si Mr. Tori o sila manag pag nagutom ka. Balak ko rin kasi matulog.”

I closed my eyes, “yeah, please close the lights”

I yawn and look at my watch that I failed to remove earlier. It’s one in the f*cking morning. I’m so hungry. I made myself fit on my wheelchair. I took the elevator and go straight to the kitchen, I’m starving. I opened the refrigerator at the bottom part I don’t like any of the food. I reach the upper door I saw a cheese cake but I can’t reach it. Bakit ba kasi ang taas ng ref namin?! Itinukod ko ang isa kong kamay sa armrest para makuha ang gusto kong abutin. Pero hindi pa rin kaya. I don’t want to disturb others.

Halos mapatalon ako nang may biglang humawak sa magkabila kong balikat.

“Fuck!” pinaupo niya ulit ako ng maayos. I felt a hand tapping my head. Which made my heart beat like crazy. I saw the other one grab the cheese cake.

“Don’t you have a fucking mouth?!” inis kong tanong.

She close the door and take the cake to the dinning table. Sumunod ako sa kaniya. “Kanina ka pa gising?” she ask.

“No, kakagising ko lang.” she get some plate, fork and a knife.

“Ang sabi ko tumawag ka pag gutom ka.” She put one slice on my plate.

“It’s 1 am.”

“Kahit na, sa susunod tawagin mo ako. Kahit mahirap ako gisingin.” She laugh. Pinagdikit niya ang mga braso tsaka ipinatong doon ang baba. Naka tingin lang sakin.

“Hindi ka kakain?”

“Kumain na ako ng kaunting kanin kanina bago uminom ng gamot.”

“Don’t stare at me. Hindi ako makakain.” Mahina siyang tumawa bago tumungo.

“Ang lamig do’n kanina na nginginig ako.”  She said.

“ You should bring your jacket.”

Tumayo siya at kumuha ng tubig. Nilgay niya ‘yon sa tabi ko. “Malay ko bang may gano’n. Kung alam ko lang sana nag dala ako.”

She’s right, biglaan. Pareho kaming pagod dahil nahasa ang utak namin sa dalawang test. Tapos biglang may gala kaya siguro napagod ang katawan namin.

“Kamusta date niyo?”

“What?!”

“Bakit hindi ba date ‘yon? Ganoon nakikita ko sa movies e.” she look confuse. I drink my water.

“It’s not.”

“Psh, ayaw daw sa babae pero pumayag mag sine.”

“ Ano bang paki mo?”

“Type mo siya?”

“Shut up.”

“May naaalala ka?”

Pano niya nalaman?!

“I said shut up!” I shouted.

Nag kibit balikat siya at nilagay ang pinag kainan ko sa sink. Binalik niya rin ang cheese cake sa ref.

“Alam mo kung gaano ako katapang inisin ka?” nagulat ako kaya inatras ko ang mukha dahil masyado siyang malapit.

“What?”

Lumapit pa siya at…ginawaran ako ng halik sa pisngi. Fuck?! Tumawa siya at tumakbo palayo. Tangina.

“Y-you!” inis na singhal ko.

I sigh calming myself. How dare she do that?! Na pa hawak ako sa kanang pisngi ko. Gago ka talagang babae ka. Sana malagutan ka ng hininga pota.
