"Cat Noir!" I jump up, grab his wrists with both hands, yank him back, and slam him against the chimney. I pin his wrists above his head with one hand, making sure he stays put. "Don't do something stupid like that! Law and Order could've seen you!"
His pupils turn to slits as he smirks. "Someone's excited tonight."
"Don't change the subject."
He brings his face close to mine. "I'm a sly black cat in the night. No one would have seen me if they tried."
"There's at least one hundred guards down there. Someone would have seen you," I hiss, moving my face closer to his.
"And that's when I'd run. With you alongside me," he grins.
My grip on his wrists tightens. "Cat Noir, I'm not joking. Everyone down there are a bunch of trained police officers with two supervillains feeding them lies. We've done this for over a month. They've done this for years."
"Come on, we're superheroes. What could ha-"
"I don't need you sticking your neck out for me every time someone threatens me."
He shrinks back, his smirk replaced with a small pout. "Furr enough."
"And we couldn't even defend ourselves with those two making everyone believe we're criminals. The people here already don't trust me. And I'm pretty sure they'll manipulate the situation to turn the public on you two."
"Then we go inside and kick their butts before they get the chance to."
I slowly inhale. "Look, you need to be more strategic, okay? You...you just can't go barging in. Not like-"
Not like the way I did.
His emeralds analyze my face for a few seconds. Cat Noir softly caresses my face with his tail, his eyes apologetic. "I know, I know. I'm sorry I scared you. I just hate that you're the victim of all these lies being spread by everyone."
I sigh. "It's fine. I don't care what they say about me."
Cat Noir sees right through that lie and leans his forehead against mine.
"Shhh," he soothes. "It'll be okay. I promise. I won't let them spread lies about you."
"I know," I whisper.
Ladybug crosses her arms, squinting up at us. "Sorry to break up an intimate moment, but am I going to do this mission by myself or are you two going to quit making out against the wall?"
Cat Noir and I glance at each other, our faces turning red when we realize how tightly I'm pinning him against the wall. How our bodies are leaning onto each other.
More specifically, how close our lips are to each other.
I quickly let him go. "We're not making out."
The black cat looks up at me hopefully and I shake my head at him. "Don't even say it."
Ladybug rests her hand on her chin as she stands up. "Actually, I think I can use you two as a distraction while I sneak in and find the akuma."
