"Right." She whispered, before allowing him to help her out. He shielded her from the sun with his arm, and quickly they rushed into the house.
Charlie was waiting for her in the foyer, his back leaned against a short wall that separated the entrance and the living room.
"Mister Swan." Edward nodded his greeting, closing the door behind Tomi before dropping his arm.
"Edwin." Charlie grumbled, and Tomi stiffled a small laugh before launching herself into his arms.
Charlie hugged back, his exhaustion-ridden body moving a bit stiffly. "How was your night, Tomi?"
She smiled up at Charlie, before glancing at Edward who was giving her a grin that was both teasing and apologetic. Her night had been... breathlessly unforgettable. "Good. Rosalie bought me cookies and we watched movies."
"That's good." Charlie finally let her go, and she stepped back a bit to lean against her boyfriend. "I was just heading into work. Wanted to wait until you got home." The puppy, Misty, came to cuddle Edward's leg and the man quickly picked it up.
"Oh," She pouted slightly. "You' working the weekend too now?"
"Crime doesn't stop for the weekend." Charlie made a face that had her inside twisting slightly because it could have been her. She could have been another one of those vanishing teenager if it wasn't for her friends and.. and the night. She had come so close to it, and there wasn't a day that she didn't thank the gods for saving her.
Edward layed a hand on her waist while the other was kept tightly against Misty, cold and soothing, and she was immediately brought back to reality. "Alright. Can I make you anything for dinner?"
"Uh, yeah, actually," The man's cheeks went a little red. "That lasagna you made last month? Could we have that?"
"Of course!" She beamed at the memory of Bella and Charlie sitting at the table, both relishing in the food she'd made. While her fear for food had diminished greatly, she had also learned that she actually enjoyed cooking. Especially pastas.
"Good. I'll see you later, then." He kissed her forehead, and then left the couple without forgetting to shoot Edward a slight glare.
Charlie still hated him for making Tomi miss school so regularly. Something about him ruining her chances at a future, as if Edward himself wasn't her future.
Once he was gone, Edward leaned down to press a kiss to Tomi's lips, only to snap up suddenly, his face scrunching up with displeasement.
"What?" She flushed. "Is it my breath? I brushed my teeth-"
"No, no," He blinked furiously, putting the small dog down onto the floor. "Something... is off."
The girl glanced about the home, the seemingly weather-worn paint, the chandelier swinging over the dining room's table. Everythig seemed quite like usual.
Hanging on her words, she stumbled back on the ball of her feet and pouted when she stared back up at her mate. "Maybe Bells brought Jacob home last night?"
Edward shook his head, and the tangible tension in him seemed to snap as he ran up the stairs, taking them two by two with no more mascarading himself to look human. Tomi followed feebly, her legs crying out at the physical exortion. Gods, she needed to start working out.
Groaning, she pushed the door of her quiet bedroom opened and watched as her boyfriend tugged open her covers. She'd made the bed before leaving just yesterday morning, and he was just wrecking her work.
"Oh, Yea," She breathed, waving her hand around at her bed. "Don't be shy. Destroy my hard work." She'd meant it as a joke, but the look Edward shot her left a sour taste on her tongue. It had to be bad if he didnt care to joke with her.
