"Eldrid! Beautiful fire." He spoke as he tasted her name on his lips.
"It's a good match for you." He said, and she returned her gaze to the plate of food.
"Why did you hide from me?" After a brief pause, he inquired. She did not respond.
"You could have informed me. I wouldn't have judged you or looked down on you no matter what. You are my mate!" He slammed his fist on the table in frustration and she looked up.
"Fine, I'm an assassin. I kill people without knowing who they are, what they did wrong. I just kill because I was told to. There now you know!" She said cutting through her waffles. He became irritated when she didn't look at him. He took the plate from in front of her and slid it away. She looked at him with a puzzled expression.
"What?" she inquired
"Don't you realize how desperate I am for you? I'd been waiting for so long! When I finally got you, you kept running. After all that, I thought we were doing well in the Dawn Pack, but you abruptly pushed me away. I run after you, I do everything I can to keep you close, to have you accept me. What else do you demand from me? You want me to get down on my knees and beg for your love?" His voice was rife with rage and melancholy.
"Why can't you understand I'm incapable of controlling my demon! I killed five of your warriors! Heck, I was on the verge of killing you! I don't even remember what it does when it's in control. It doesn't even know the difference between who is good or bad, it doesn't even know what a family is! I could destroy your whole pack and you! I could hurt you so badly!" She stood up and pushed the chair behind her, lightly slamming her hands on the table. Her voice was desperate to prove her point.
"You'll hurt me, and I'll hurt you. We're going to hurt each other. But this is the very condition of our existence! Accepting the risk of winter in order to become the spring!" She sighed as he exclaimed.
"You don't get it, Aiden. No matter what you or I do, the storm that follows me will not abate. And I'm not going to let it decimate anything else. I'll keep pushing myself away from you until I'm down the cliff and you are standing in the top, alone! You and your kingdom deserve someone better than me." She spun around.
"The Moon destined you for me! Me or my Kingdom couldn't have found anyone better than you!"
"You will find someone a lot better at this queen thing than me." She rolled her eyes
"You don't care if I choose another she-wolf?"
"Go ahead and choose any wolf you like," she shrugged
He was about to say something when a guard knocked and barged into the hall.
"Your Highnesses," he greeted and whispered something into Aiden's ear.
"We'll be there," Aiden dismissed the guard.
"We are going to have this conversation later. Now let's go."
"Go where?" She asked
"We have a guest coming."
"I wanna fill my tummy first." She casually sat down and began finishing her food. He stared at her for a moment before storming out of the room.
Almost the entire pack was gathered in front of the castle. Their faces were lit up with smiles and a happy glow. The air was filled with murmurs, and when Aiden's footsteps were heard, everyone fell silent. They made way for him as he stood at the main entrance. Soon after, a black car arrived and pulled up in front of the castle's entrance. When the door opened, a woman stepped out. She wasn't that tall but has an hourglass figure, her complexion fair, her diamond-shaped face was adorned with bright blue eyes, long lashes, a small straight nose, and luscious full lips. Her shoulder-length, blonde gleaming hair was soft and silky. Her baby blue eyes glowed the moment they fell on him. She dashed up to him and hugged him tightly. Aiden stood there, taken aback by her actions, but he didn't reach out to hug her back.
"I missed you." She whispered.
A thudding growl erupted, and all eyes were drawn to the stairs. Aiden and the woman stared at the staircase, perplexed. Eldrid cast her gaze around the Lycans, puzzled as to why they were staring at her. She looked at Aiden, who was smirking at her with a humorous expression on his face. She suddenly realized why they were all staring at her. She'd just growled at them. With one last glance at the baffled woman and Aiden, she stormed into the castle.
She exhaled deeply as she sat down on the bed. That woman, who was she? She pondered. Something was not feeling right about her. She had the audacity to embrace him. Eldrid's blood boiled with rage as the images of that woman's hands around him reflected on her mind again. That woman's limbs should have been torn apart by her. But that would only show how possessive she was of Aiden, which also meant she accepted him! Her brow furrowed as she reflected on the events. Maybe she'd just observe things, and if that woman did anything, she could always kill her and make it look like an accident. With the final decision, she nodded to herself.
She was bored and restless as she twisted and turned on the bed. A lot had happened before she passed out, and she wonders if they were looking for Malcolm. But how will they find him if they don't know anything about him? She'd definitely talk to Aiden about it and look for him as soon as possible. She also has many questions for Johan and Zedan. Johan has been evil since the beginning of time, but what really irritates her is why would an Alpha give up his pack and join the one who is destroying their kind. Also, where is his Luna and the Beta? She hasn't seen her since the funeral, and she hasn't seen the Beta after that morning, and they weren't on the battlefield either. Johan also seems to have lied about Nicholas' death in cold blood. She'll have a lot of fun with Johan soon, and she'll definitely enjoy his agonizing screams as she uses all of her tools on him. She'll make him beg for death, just like she did all those years ago. Sadistically, she smiled at the prospect of torturing Johan. But first, she decided to pay a visit to Nicholas. She has a lot to ask him and explain to him. He deserves a mellow explanation after his near-death encounter. With that thought, she hopped out of bed and, after brushing her hair, went outside to look for the Beta.

She walked out of the bedroom and down the corridor, where she heard female laughter from downstairs. She was intrigued and skeptical all at the same time. As she approached the stairs, the scene in front of her made the beasts growl and her blood boil. The woman was sitting on the couch in the living room as if she owned the place. Aiden was sitting beside her, and he seemed to have said something amusing enough to make her laugh. He, too, had a grin on his face. She didn't like how close they were sitting, and she didn't like how he was spending his time with that woman rather than Eldrid. When she saw Eldrid at the top of the stairs, she stopped laughing, and Aiden turned his head toward her as well. As Eldrid descended the stairs, the woman stood up. She drew closer to Eldrid, Aiden in her toes. With a bright smile, she said
"Hi I'm Victoria, you must be Ariel. I had heard that Aiden had found his mate. But I dismissed it as a rumor. But it looks like he in fact did find his mate!" She let out a light laugh. Victoria must be close to Aiden because she called him by his name rather than his title, and he didn't seem to mind. And he didn't even introduce her to Victoria.
"Eldrid, my name is Eldrid. And it's Your Highness or Lady or Luna for you." She looked at Aiden with a straight face, who was standing with his hands folded behind his back, staring at her.
"Megan!" She summoned the head court lady, who dashed forward and bowed in front of the Alpha couple.
"My Lady, it's so good to see you."
Megan smiled as she said this.
"Same here." With a smile, Eldrid said.
"It was nice meeting you, Victoria. I hope you'll stay for dinner." With a sickeningly sweet smile, she said.
"Of course My Lady. I intend of staying for a few days as Aiden had summoned for me himself." Victoria spoke up, and Eldrid cast a quick glance at the Alpha male, who stood there silently.
"Very well, now if you will excuse me." Megan trailed behind her as she walked away. She could still feel his piercing gaze on the back of her head, but she didn't turn around.
As Eldrid walked away, Aiden couldn't help but smile at the thought of his jealous mate. Even though Victoria irks him, he would let her stay if it meant he could see Eldrid become possessive and jealous. Even if she doesn't show it, he believes she still cherishes him deep down inside.
