Newt X Reader

The reason why Newt jumped

"Hey Y/N!" Newt yelled and struggled to catch up with you. You laughed and stopped so he could have an easier time matching your pace. "You're so slow, Newt" you teased. The boy pouted and crossed his arms "You just wait. When I become a runner like Minho and you" You laugh at his childish attitude and you pinch his cheeks. "Ow, stop it!" Newt said but was smiling and showing no effort to remove your hand. You smile and laughed "I know that you love it when I do that" you winked at him. You lay down on the grass and stared at the sky. Tomorrow will be the day you would finally go into the maze alone. It was something of an accomplishment to go there alone and you were pretty proud of it

"Y/N" Newt whispered from beside you. You turn and looked into his eyes "Yea?" Newt looked down, a shy smile flashing on his face as he fiddled with his thumbs "I just want to say...good luck tomorrow and...be careful" he looked into your eyes and leaned closer, you were fully aware that you were sharing the same air as him, fully aware of what was happening around you

Fully aware of how close the boy you loved is to you "Because I can't bear it if I lose you, Y/N"

The words you heard didn't fully register to you. So like a fool you asked "What?" You heard Newt laugh and you frowned a bit "What?" You complained

"If words can't make you understand...Perhaps this will" Newt said and leaned in closer and pressed his lips onto yours

Your eyes widened as he pulled out from the kiss

"Newt.." You started to say but he cut you off

"No slim it, Y/N. I love you alright? And if something will bloody happen to you tomorrow, I swear I won't be able to live another day without you"

His words touched you as you saw that it was full of sincerity. You smiled at him and flung your arms onto his neck and whispered to his ear "I'll do my best, Newt"

You felt his arms wrap around your waist as he pulled you closer "You better" he whispered and placed his forehead onto yours "Put that in your head will ya?" You grin and nodded "Of course"

He smiled again as he leaned in to kiss you again, this time more longer than the last

You didn't have a clue. All you knew is that you felt like the happiest person ever to have the one you love loving you back

"I love you" he whispered

Without even hesitating this time you say "I love you, ya slinthead"

He smiled and held your hand "Come on, you need to rest"

You nodded and rubbed your eyes

Newt placed an arm over your shoulder as he lead you towards the Homestead. You both enter your room and you went to the bed immediately. Newt chuckled and went to tuck you in "Goodnight my Y/N"

He said and kissed you on your forehead. You smile and started to say good night to him too but felt the tiredness kick in. Making one last desperate move, you reached for his hand and whispered "Stay with me, Newt"

Newt looked at you with a concerned expression. He smiled lightly and gave in "Alright" he went towards the bed and laid down on your left. You smile and started closing your eyes. You felt his hand on your waist and pull you closer to him "I love you.." he whispered

"Love you too" you managed to say before sleep hits you

The following day you woke up early and saw a sleeping Newt beside you. You laughed as you saw his messy hair and slightly opened mouth. You poked his nose and his face frowned a bit. You giggle and whispered in his ear "Newt"
