Being among the clouds
Seems so freeing
To be a bird
Soaring on air currents
Diving to the ground
Only to pull up and spread their wings
Catching the wind
Being among skyscrapers
Makes me feel so small
So insignificant
So far away
From the clouds
But at the cloud gate
I think
This is it
Here
I can reach the sky
Spread my wings
And take flight
But I can't
My roots are too firmly knit into the ground
My wings
Aren't strong enough
To pull me off the ground
To take me
To the clouds
I'm tangled
At the gate
Wanting to cross over
And into the sky
To finally
Be free
But the town I come from
Does it's job a little to well
Attending to me
Making sure my roots
Are intact
So my wings
Can never take me far
~
Give them roots
And give them wings
