<Chapter 13: A Promise>

(Time Skip)

Third Person's POV

"Turn around and face the wall." The guard told Lex. Lex turned to the wall. "Place your forehead against the wall." Lex walked over to the wall. "Put your hands behind your back, so that I can come in and restrain you." Lex put his forehead on the wall and his hands behind his back. Suddenly, the lights flickered. The cell door opened and shut. The lights stopped and turned red. Lex turned around and saw Batman standing there. Batman walked over to him.

"Whatever you do, wherever you go, I'll be watching you!" He said, grabbing Lex and shoving him against the wall. He held up his iron bat brand.

"But the bell's already been rung." Lex said. "And they've heard it. Out in the dark. Among the stars. Hmm. Ding dong, the god is dead. He was too dangerous to be alive. And next...your witch will die." That threw him off the deep end. Batman pulled his fist back and threw it forward. The lights went out. They flashed between red and light. Lex looked behind him and saw the bat brand in the wall behind him. The lights went back to normal, and the buzzer went off. The doors shut, causing Lex to run towards it. "But a bell cannot be unrung!" He grabbed the bars of the door and stood there with his forehead on the bars. "He's hungry. He's found us. And he's coming! He'll kill her. You hear me?! He'll kill your little witch! HE'LL KILL HER!" He chuckled. "Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding."

(Meanwhile...)

The FBI were checking Lex's house. On the wall, was the portrait of angels and devils. Except this time, it was flipped. Showing devils coming from the sky, while the angels came from the ground.

(Time Skip)

Bruce walked up behind Laia as she looked out the windows at the lake view and put his arms around her waist. She put her arms on his as he put his face in her neck.

"He's right you know." She said.

"What?" He asked, placing a kiss on her neck. She turned around in his arms, so she was facing him. She put her hands on his chest.

"What Lex said." I said. "Whoever he's talking about, he's right. This person...they're a lot stronger than I am. They'll kill me." He unwrapped his arms from her waist and put his hands on the sides of her face.

"I won't let that happen." He said. "They'll have to get through me to get to you." She smiled, sweetly and sadly.

"I don't want you to die for me." She said, putting her hands over his.

"Laia..." He said. "I would die for you."

"I know you would." She said. "But I'm asking you not to."

"I don't think I can promise that." He said.

"I know." She said. "If you won't not die for me...then live for me." He smiled.

"Now, that I can promise." He said. They chuckled. He leaned down and kissed her. She took her hands off his and put her arms around his neck. He took his hands off her face and wrapped his arms around her waist. They pulled away for air but stayed in each other's arms. He put his forehead on hers. "Ma armastan sind." She smiled at his Estonian words.

"Ma armastan sind ka." She said.

And then she knew that they would do everything together.

Through thick and thin.

Together, they were....
