Laia's POV

I was at the lab, waiting for the rock to get here. The truck pulled in, but the top of it was missing. A lift came over and got the box out. Lex walked over to us.

"What the hell happened?" Lex asked.

"Batman." The guy said.

"Batman?" I asked.

"Yeah." He said. "He tried to take the rock. Luckily, we got away. He had to deal with Superman." I nodded and turned to the box.

"Open it." Lex said. The man grabbed a crowbar and opened the box. We looked in and saw the rock. I felt my eyes flash red because of the aura of power from the rock. Lex looked at it with happiness in his eyes.

The scientists were coming over to take it, but I put my hand out to stop them

The scientists were coming over to take it, but I put my hand out to stop them. I could tell what this meant.

That Lex now had the ability to end Superman

That Lex now had the ability to end Superman. For good. And I didn't know if it was a good thing, or a bad thing.

I was looking for Lex. I walked into a lab room and saw him staring at the rock through the glass case. I walked over and touched the glass case.

"What do you think, sis?" He asked

"What do you think, sis?" He asked.

"It's beautiful." I said.

"Ah, yes." He said. "It is. And now, we can use it against Superman. We can defend ourselves against others of his kind that want to kill us. We can get revenge, for what they did to our cities. To our country. My dear sister, we can win." I looked at him. I didn't know what to think. I supported his dreams for as long as I'd known him. But now, I was doubting what he was doing as a right of service. Maybe...we're wrong.

We were waiting to talk to the Senator.

"Senator!" Lex said, seeing her. She stopped, seeing us. "Hi, you. Don't go anywhere. I wanna talk to you. Uh, you know what. Mercy, you go in and make sure no one takes our seats." Mercy went into the room.

"So, what you been up to?" Senator asked.

"I'm just here to tell my story." He said, she walked around us. "That I was willing to finance a Kryptonian deterrent, but a junior senator from Kentucky decided to block it. Yes, the chair of the committee on Superman is softy on security."

"He's here." A man said. "He came. He's above the capital." She walked past Lex, bumping her shoulder into his.

"Ah." He said in pain. "You are gonna be on the hot seat in there, Junebug."

"I grew up on a farm." She said, putting on her coat. "I know how to wrestle a pig."

"Do you know the oldest lie in America, Senator?" He asked. "It's that power can be innocent. Good luck." She walked into the room. Lex grabbed my hand and walked us away.

"I don't understand, why are we leaving?" I asked. We were in the limo, getting away from the capital.

"Because we have to." He said. Suddenly, on the tv, it showed the capital being blown up. I was shocked.

"Mercy..." I said, suddenly remembering. I turned to Lex. "Mercy was in there." He looked at me with a blank expression on his face. Oh my god. "What have you done?"

"I've done what any great leader would have done." He said. "Sacrifice the ones who stand in your way, to save the ones who aren't." I looked at him, shocked. "Tonight, dear sister, you will guard the rock. That is an order." I didn't know what to say. I didn't want those people to die. I didn't ask for any of this. What have I done?
